Well... "spearchucker" isn't exactly the friendliest term on the planet. Nor was is it used appropriately, if that's even possible.

WOW. I was so far out in space on that. I was trying to figure out what it had to do with the baseball pitchers and or baseball!

 Javelin. This is the only place where it can be used appropriately.  For crying out loud a javelin is a spear and you throw it, chuck it, and toss it. It was not used  in a derogatory manner describing a certain type of person except some one who chucks spears/javelins used any other way would be wrong

You don't think that it may have been wise to just stay away from that particular term, if only because of the connotations? I think "javelin throwers" would have done the job.

Yeah he probably should have used another phrase because the world is so sensitive that some one would find it offensive for some stupid reason or another or try to make more out of it then there is, but unfortunately for him he didn't and probably will unjustly lose his job or catch a hell of a lot of flack for it.
