The trade winds are a blowing in the NHL
2/19/11 in NHL
The NHL trading deadline isnt until February 28th but if Friday is any indication, they'll be plenty of action until then. The St. Louis Blues were one team that made a huge splash, trading their captain Eric Brewer to the Tampa Lightning for a draft pick and then in a major blockbuster deal, shipping former #1 overall pick Erik Johnson and Jay McClement to the Colorado Avalanche for Chris Stewart and Kevin Shattenkirk Earlier in the day, the Avs swapped goalies with the Ottawa Senators when they sent Craig Anderson north of the border for Brian Elliott.
The Boston Bruins also made some moves yesterday, adding Tomas Kaberle from the Leafs and dealing Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart to Atlanta for Rich Peverley and Boris Valabik.
With the deadline over a week away, you can expect alot more action from teams looking to add depth for a possible Stanley Cup run or from those looking to sell assets to prepare for the future
