Tiger Woods: great golfer, terrible man.
READ MORE:
Let me preface this article by saying I'm a big fan of Tiger Woods. For me, he is the only reason I watch golf. I will continue to watch Tiger play, because there is nothing more thrilling for a sports fan than to see Tiger close out a major. For anyone who loves to see the excellence that human beings are capable of, it's an absolute joy to see Tiger knock down a 30 foot put on the 18th hole to win a tournament.

That being said, Tiger Woods has let down everyone that he is supposed to care for. If the reports are true that he refused to use a condom, knowingly contracted HIV or Aids, then continued to sleep with women without telling them, that is a felony. If he did contract an STD and didn't know, he still knowingly put the life of his wife and children in jeopardy. There is no greater sin for a father and husband.

What Tiger also did was set up his children for a lifetime of teasing and wondering why their father did what he did. His wife married a famous, rich and successful man knowing that this might happen, his kids had no choice. He has jeopardized the life of the two children he is supposed to protect. He has forever scarred their lives and while they may grow up to lead productive lives they will carry the burden that their father bestowed upon them.

What happened to the cold blooded assassin who finishes off the best golfers in the world on a weekly basis. Strip away the golf and all we have is a morally bankrupt shell of a man, panicking and drowning in a sea of his poor decisions.

Ultimately in six months this all will be forgotten. Tiger will refocus, play with a bigger chip on his shoulder and continue to win tournaments. Women will stop coming forward because all the money has been handed out and people will be sick of hearing about it. His sponsors will come back if they ever left, and people will be praising Tiger Woods the athlete. We forgave Kobe, Jordan, Manny Ramirez, Michael Vick and we will forgive Tiger.

I'm not trying to kick Tiger when he's down, but I believe there is an important lesson in his mistakes for all of us. In golf Tiger is a god, he can seemingly do no wrong, but in life he has to make the same choices we all do. Ultimately we all are what we decided to be. You are the choices you make. Tiger chose to pursue being the greatest golfer ever. He also chose to be a selfish, inconsiderate, terrible husband and father. The outcome of those choices made Tiger the greatest golfer ever and a failure in life.

Very well put, but great people from John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King to Henry Ford have often had a tragic failing or weakness and more of this may be tied to the loss of LTC Earl D. Woods, I am not 100% on the Chronology but it seems most of this started after Tiger's dad was very ill and seems to have accelerated after his father died, not an excuse, but perhaps part of the way a control freak seeks to self-medicate.

"Great golfer, terrible man"  - a pretty good summary. I'll always respect Tiger for his professional achievements, but as a person I've lost all my respect for him. It's a shame that he didn't realize that he had it all before he went and threw it all away.

Yeah I have to agree with you on that. He has done a lot for people in general, but not so much as a husband.

While I've lost a lot of respect for Tiger the man, I still respect his craft.  In my opinion, Tiger is the greatest golfer to grace the links.  It's a matter of when, not if he breaks the majors record held by Jack Nicklaus.

Tiger is guilty infidelity, something countless of others athletes fall pray to as well.  The difference is that Tiger is one of the most recognizable people walking the earth.  In today's day an age with the Internet and high-tech cell phones, you're going to get caught eventually.  Time will help to repair his image and he'll gain a lot of his fans back.  The great ones are so good at what they do, they make you forget about all the bad things they did.  And as sports fans that's what we tune in for....to see the likes of MJ, Tiger, and Brady dominate their sport.

One thing that is for sure, before Tiger became this "great" golfer, he was male of the species.  As such he is subject to do what any other man will do.  Am I disappointed? no  Surprised? no Upset? no  Simply because I do not expect perfection in man, because there is none. My reaction "another one bit the dust"

Author James Barrie suggested Peter Pan's alter ego was a pirate:

If he feels he has been wronged, he can instantly run you aground, and skewer your heart with a promise and a lie.  Cross him a second time and he''ll make your soul walk the plank.  Then after pillaging your trust, he sails off into the sunset on his boat, "Privacy",  pretending to have neither worry nor care.

This reckless pirate has no home.  He is consumed by wanderlust on a never- ending journey to find peace of mind.

He steals your trust, but cannot use it because trust has no meaning without self-love, which is missing.

Pathetically,  his piratical lifestyle is only a temporary panacea for an otherwise stormy life.  The absence of personal accountability makes  it nearly impossible for Tiger to realize he  has caused  his own misfortune.

It is difficult for his fans to face the possiblility that anyone so vital could be such a thief and  a con man.   Better he should swipe your wallet than steal your trust.

He 's neither a crook, nor is he mentally ill.  Tiger Woods is a modern-day pirate cast adrift on a narcissistic sea of loneliness, shipwrecked in a prison of his own making,.  He will never escape if he continues to allow the ooh's and ah's of groupies and bimbos  to massage his wounded ego (and various other anatomical parts!).

Incredibly,  Tiger's  lack of discipline and low self-esteem are at the core of  this self-created irreversible tragedy.   Who would have thunk it?

LET THE SINLESS MAN CAST THE FIRST STONE..... people makes mistakes and we are just humans not to forgive..... GOD forgave those who sinned  against him why cant we???
Human flesh is weak, and people rejoice at the misfortune of others.
After what have been said and done at the end of the day
IT IS NOT WHO WE WERE BEFORE THAT MAKES YOU A MAN BUT WHAT YOU HAVE BECOME IN THE END.

Will you all just let it go. He knows what he did and he's dealing with the consequences. It's not easy being in the spot light. He's the number 1 golfer at the moment, the guy is on top of the world. His wife probably isn't as passionate as golf and in the bedroom as he is and so over time this weighs heavy and takes its toll. I'm sure his appetite for indoor activities wasn't at all projected in hurting his family. He got caught and now everything he didn't realise is coming into perspective. Just don't judge him because you all at some stage felt lust and desire in your own hearts. It's human nature. I fell sorry that he got married young. He probably did have great values and got married with the right intentions but what got to him was the lack of experience dealing with different women and the sex department. Get a life you lot... "Tiger you are a great sportsman and a normal male." As for the religious side of things, what he did is a dilemma he and and God have to sort out....so again....let it go!

Tiger Woods is the best golfer and he committed mistakes and all humans do.  I believe  we  all commit mistakes in our lives but  who are we to judge him.   Are you happy for his downfall?   He has had enough and  he  has learned from his mistakes so let it go.

Yes, but he DID get married and DID have kids, therefore he is a scumbag.  Simple as that.  Had he not got married I'd be fired up for all the tail he gets.  His first bad choice?  Getting married.  Now if we get into PED's then that is another story
