Tressel Doesn't Cast Vote
12/3/06

Apparently Jim Tressel didn't want to have a hand in choosing his opponent.

Tressel abstained from casting his vote in the final Coaches Poll of the season.

The other 62 coaches choose Ohio State as the #1 team in the country and Florida was ranked #2, 26 points ahead of Michigan.

Based on these results, it looks like there will be a Gators - Buckeyes final in Arizona.

Classy move by Tressel. But if I was him, I would have voted Boise State 2nd. And then Wisconsin, and every other 1-loss team in college, except  Michigan and Florida.

I'm a little confused -- don't you have to vote if you sign up to be part of the poll?  Seems like a cop out to me.

I guess you don't have to.  I am guessing no one is going to complain that he didn't ... As much as I don't like Tressel, I think Pat is right, this is a classy move.

They're going to look into it. But here's something me and the sweater vest see eye to eye on (for once) it is a conflict of interest for hime to vote in this weeks poll.

I heard here in Columbus that whoever is in charge of deciding which coaches vote in the poll, may kick Tressel out of the coaches poll next year for not voting because I guess you do have to vote each week.

I say so what. the sweater vested one has a good point especially if they are going to make the votes piblic he was in a lose lose situation.
