Troy Football: Trojans prepared to add huge renovation to stadium
Athletic director John Hartwell announced over the weekend that the department is planning for a rendering for a north end zone project at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
“Let me caution you by saying this is a rendering, this does not mean it will be the exact finished product,” Hartwell said, according to the school’s official athletic site. “Recruiting is the lifeblood of our teams and certainly you have got to have the ‘Wow Factor’ if we are going to attract the best student-athletes in this country.
“This new North End Zone Project is going to give us that ‘Wow Factor’. When we have potential student-athletes walk on this campus and see that facility they are not going to see any better in Baton Rouge, in Tuscaloosa or in Auburn. This facility is going to be as quality as any program in the country, and we are very excited about that.”
The new addition would include 10-14 suites, a new locker room, coaches offices, equipment room, weight room, administration offices, meeting rooms, video and technology areas, recruiting lounges, an academic center, and more.
An estimated price is somewhere between the $25-28 million range, and the best-case scenario for completion is 2015—but nothing is set in stone at this point.
