Here's a quick breakdown of the fights that were shown on Spike TV on 10/10.
Seth Petruzelli Vs. Matt Hamill
Matt Hamill - Fan favorite of TUF season 3.
Seth Petruzelli - TUF season 2, hasn't fought in over a year.
Round 1: Hamill takes Petruzelli down to the mat early, works the ground & pound effectively. Petruzelli's eye is severely damaged. Big mouse under the eye. Vision must be affected by the swelling. 10-9 Hamill. Total domination of the round. After the first round, the right eye of Petruzelli is 70% swolen shut.
Round 2: Petruzelli drops a high kick that stuns Hamill early in the round. Hamill recovers. In general, Hamill's wrestling prowess takes over, he works Petruzelli's swolen eye very well. Round 2 was closer than round 1 but Hamill still comes out the victor, 10-9
Round 3: Hamill drops Petruzelli to the mat, controlling the fight. Fight is reset, Hamill again takes Petruzelli to the mat. 2 minutes left in the match and it is obvious that neither fighter has enough stamina left to KO the other. Hamill has a huge gash under his eye but it won't change the judges' decision. A big takedown seals the match. It has to be unanimous decision. 10-9 round for Hamill again.
Decision: Two Judges 29-28, one judge 30-27. The second round must have been where the two judges gave Petruzelli points. Unanimous for Hamill. This guy is one of my feel good favorites! If you're just trying to get into the MMA/UFC scene, this is a good fighter to stand behind.
Ed Herman Vs. Jason MacDonald (Middleweight)
Ed Herman: TUF 3 Finalist - Defeated by Kendall Grove by decision in the Show's finale. 13-3
Jason MacDonald: UFC Newcomer. 17-7
Round 1: Multiple takedowns/reverses. Macdonald Ridiculous submission triangle. Herman Taps out. Amazing submission technique. This is a huge upset in my mind. I can only expect that Herman just didn't take this guy seriously.
Chris Price Vs. Kendall Grove
Grove: TUF 3 Winner in Middleweight division.
Price: 8-0 MMA, former military man. UFC Debut.
Round 1: Grove takes Price down, elbows. Grove tries foot submission. Grove mounts and pounds into submission. Ref calls the fight. Personally, I think that was called way too quick. Price was defending pretty well. Grove wins by Ref Stoppage.
Tito Ortiz Vs. Ken Shamrock (Light Heavyweight)
Ortiz: Fan favorite, Next person to face Lidell for the belt.
Shamrock: UFC Hall of Famer. Has lost last two matches to Ortz.
Round 1: Chants of Tito Tito! before the round starts. Shamrock looks fit but old. Shamrock literally getting tossed around the octagon. Shamrock's back to the mat. Elbows raining down. Shamrock has guard but still is taking damage. Huge elbows. Shamrock's defense is solid but still he's taking damage. It is over, Ortiz's ground and pound attack completely destroys Shamrock, there is no contest anymore. Shamrock admits defeat and buries the hatchet with Ortiz. The bad blood is over, and most probably this is the last fight that Shamrock will ever have in the octagon.
