UFL Football California Versus Las Vegas

Normally when I miss something in the sports world, I get people from the Q emailing me about "How could you miss this?" Well, I got no emails for this one. In fact, I literally stumbled upon it.

The United Football League began tonight. In fact, it's on right now. Just click the link above and you can watch the California Redwoods play the Las Vegas I-Didn't-Care-Enough-to-Look-It-Up.

Yes, that's Dennis Green as the coach on the California sideline, and yes, that appears to be only about 7000 people in the stands. Anyway, enjoy the crappy football!

HAHA, no i did not, Wow. I wonder how many more people have no idea about the UFL starting tonight. I'm watching The Office, way better, but i wouldn't miss the NFL, no way.

Also, HORRIBLE jerseys.  On top of that fact that light green and blue should never be used, one team has white jerseys and the other has light gray?  I can hardly tell the teams apart.

Will this be the only season of the UFL or will it last longer than the XFL.  Plus what is the Championship game going to be called the United Bowl/Cup or something else.

Have you watched the NFL lately?  Between the Seattle DOT workers and the spate of AFL Throwups... er, Throwbacks...  these unis are improvements.

I only hope you don't watch the Lingerie Football League and bitch about their unis as well.

Wow ... There is quite a lot of hating going on here. Well I'm here to say it wasn't that bad. The UFL is a lot better then the XFL when it first came out. The XFL was trying to be to extreme and compete against the NFL. I don't believe the UFL is trying to compete with or out do the NFL. I thought the UFL showed good energy, and the pace of the game moved along very well. All the cameras were pretty good at following the action on the field and there was plenty of scoring. Yes there is plenty the UFL will need to work on, but hey its just the first game. I really didn't like the green down markers, but it was nice to see the refs letting the players play without a bunch of flags and penalty calls. Only time will tell if there is a need for this league. Yes its not the NFL, but they never claim to be.

I watched most of it.  I hope it takes off, would be nice to get some more Pro football.  The uniforms were a litttle on the wacky side but overall looks phun!  Go UFL go!!!!!

Uniforms were lousy from the 60 second highlight package Sportcenter put together this morning. One team was neon blue/neon green while the other team was neon blue/silver...so it was difficult to tell who was who out there. I didn't see any actual gameplay other than Losman dumping off a short TD pass to someone. It's minor league football, there could be some good NFL talent come up through there, I hope it succeeds.

Wow, didn't know it began... I really hadn't planned on watching it, but I'll have to check out the next game to see how these boys play.. Maybe in this league they'll play hard like the college boys since I'm sure they're trying to land a job in the NFL.. It'll be nice to see.

Not only did I watch it I scouted it, there are 4-5 guys on each team who will be on NFL rosters soon, the playbooks are clearly stripped down on both sides of the ball, however the talent level is 1.5 levels above the XFL, but a 1/2 step down from the USFL.

I think this league could make it. I mean they arnt trying to compete with the NFL. They are just trying to be a developmental ground for the NFL. Give guys a chance to work on their game a bit in Real football. Not Arena league or Canadian football. And being on Thursdays it is a great start to the Football Week. It looks pretty good actually it is somthing I would watch again. And it is a short season so it wont be to hard to keep up to it. Of course it isnt going to be as good as the NFL. But it isnt bad TV to watch if you like to watch football

I watched the game, wasn't that bad. I think it's better than the crappy NCAA games they put on on Thursday or Friday nights. I also like that you can watch the whole game online. And, those are the Las Vegas Locomotives or "Loco's" for short lol. Next game is on 10/10 on HD Net, which most people with Directv should get. I say, check it out.

So you are calling the CFL not real football. Well here's a few things you may not have known about the CFL that is different tha the NFL and the UFL. #  1- The CFL season is 18 games compared to the NFL which is only 16 games and the UFL is a 6 game season. # 2 - In the CFL you only get 3 downs to get 10 yards, compared to the NFL and The UFL you get 4 downs. # 3 - The final difference between the CFL and the NFL/UFL is that the Ball are bigger in the CFL. OH yeah and you might as well call the Buffalo Bills the Toronto Bills, Because it looks like they'll be moving to Canada. Plus those jerseys that the people running the UFL look like garbage.
