The UFL has hired Terri Valenti to be the first female official in professional football. The NFL has one woman on their list of potential officials, Sarah Thomas, who has worked at Saints' training camp for two years. Will we see a female official soon in the NFL?

I am sure they will eventually. As long as they can do the job, I have no problem with it.

The are working diligently, as soon as they have a team in LA that's next on the list.

How about just saying that she will be officiating in the U.F.L and not emphasize she is a woman. If she can do the job its not about her gender its a matter of  whether or not she is suitable for the job. I am sure if a man was to try out for sychronized swimming team there would not be all the hype.
Women can do any job they are trained to do just as good as a man. So instead of the media putting all this pressure upon her. LET HER GO OUT AND DO THE JOB SHE HAS BEEN TRAINED TO DO. Oh and make sure she makes the same salary they are paying her peers. :)

I am sure women can miss calls and take orders and/or bribes to throw games just as well as any man.

I agree w/ what you are trying to say, but I think it's fair to point out her gender as it's only a story b/c she is female.  I hope she is judged fairly and objectively.  Best of luck to Ms. Valenti.

Women officials is one thing... woman coaches? That I'd like to see, especially in the NBA.
