The US has retained the Solheim Cup, making them undefeated on American soil, but it wasn't just a walk in the partk.
Michelle Wie had the best record of the tournament, with a 3-0-1. Wie first gained notoriety as a youngster, playing the kind of golf that had everyone touting her as the next best thing since Tiger Woods. She gained more notoriety when she made a bid to become the first female to play with the men, in the PGA, rather than the LPGA, but mostly met with a lack of success.
Well, now she's back with the women, and they welcomed her with open arms. The US team looked like they were going to relinquish the Cup to the Europeans early in the day, but team captain Juli Inkster rallied back to tie her match after being 2 back. Word got out to the rest of the girls, and the US players all rallied.
In the end, the rallies worked, with Morgn Prussel, Cristina Kim and Wie all winning their matches.
Tears of joy for the Americans and tears of disappointment for the Europeans coloured the 18th hole when it was all over, but in all, it was incredible golf, and more entertaining than any golf I've seen in a long time.
