US striker Charlie Davies was in an accident today on the GW Parkway in which an SUV was ripped in half. One woman died at the scene. Davies' injuries are reportedly not life-threatening. He's in surgery and in stable condition. No word on what he's having surgery on.

He has been one of the best players for the US, starting with the Confederations cup this summer.

Davies was destined to be a US soccer star! I hope he can fully recover not just from his injuries but the emotional pain of losing an acquaintance.

Not only will Davies be stricken with emotional pain for along time from losing somebody in the accident but he also has a broken leg and elbow.  The chances of him playing in the World Cup next year are slim to none, which is a huge blow for the US squad.  Davies isnt a prolific goal scorer but he does bring some speed and energy to the offensive side of the ball while forming a pretty good twosome with Altidore.  I wish him well in his recover because Mark is right, Davies is destined to be a US soccer star for a long time

Yeah, he broke his Femur which is the hardest bone in the body to break. He won't play in the world cup, I'd be shocked if he ever plays again.

 bad.. usa was just starting to get very competetive in world football. theyll continue their form and give a good fight to the others at the world cup hopefully...

its very bad when a player has to miss a tournament on the scale of the world cup through such means. hope that even if his world cup dreams are over, his career ll be intact...
