Pete Carroll lets the College Football world know that USC is the best team in the land. Apparently, Happy Pete is not very happy about Rose Bowl tie ins and the BCS.
I love USC. I love Pete Carroll & CJ Gable may be right. But it's real easy to talk about kicking Florida & Oklahoma's ass when you don't have to play them.
I love Pete Carroll, the college coach. I did not love Pete Carroll when he was coaching the Patriots.
That being said, I think that USC is one of a few teams who could beat any team in the country on any given day. However, the same can be said of Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah... College football is pure insanity.
Pete is crafty, for a man who loves to say he does not care about the working of the BCS, he loves to gets his point of campaigning his team for the BCS through his players and his coaches (In my own insane opinion).
I don't know about you but each year I get tired of big mouth (fans, athletes, coaches, etc...) complaining about the system, WHEN THEY CAN"T EVEN WIN ALL THEIR GAMES. All these big time college football schools want to make the millions and have all this national recognition every year but rarely win ALL of their games. A national champion to me means that you (read one, and absolutely one) have established being the best by being the best in their conference, then on a national stage against another conference champion who also claims to be the best. USC is good but couldn't beat Oregon State, who lost to 2 other teams in the same conference. Then they play Penn St. who wasn't on anybodys top 3 list before the bowl and maybe not in anyones top 10 after the bowl and this guy has then nerve to mouth off about it. I have said it before and will say it again, win your games and then you can be in that discussion, if not and you aren't picked for that National Championship game, then wait til next year. Every year USC feels like they are the best team but usually end up losing in arguably the weakest BCS conference.

I think you could legitimately say the ACC & Big East are worse than the Pac 10.

The Pac 10 has been consistently the worse major college football conference since their creation. While they haven't had solid teams in the last few years, the ACC as a conference has more kids taken in the NFL draft in the last 5, 6 years than ANY other conference, so I don't think so. The Big East has changed dramatically since the creation of the new ACC and they at least have a reason to be bad for a while. The Pac 10 relies on too much USC to prove that they aren't a national joke every single year. Without SC, the Pac 10 wouldn't be much higher than the Sun Belt and thats real.

When it's all said and done the pac 10 choked against the MWC this year. I agree with you on your earlier comment. I think nobody deserves the NC unless they can roll their conference and lay a beatdown in their bowl game. I don't think the pac 10 is the weakest by any means but they certainly aren't the toughest. Now being a Ute fan I'm going to call you out on what you said. Now that Utah smacked down Alabama (and oh so handily) they are 13 and 0. The beat Oregon St right after they beat USC and have done everything else necessary including beating Bama by more then Florida. Do you think they deserve at least a piece of the NC? For that matter when they went undefeated in 04 under Urban Meyer and beat the hell out of Pit (which was a BS matchup) did they deserve any recognition?

Whoa! not so fast....Washington , Washington State and Stanford...?? Duke beat Vanderbilt in Nashville and Navy. Syracuse was awful and Louisville was down..but I don't know....It's team by team now and region by region.... the days of conference arguing are moot

I'm talking about year in & year out. Certainly debatable. You're right arguing which conference is better is pointless.
Notice I was nice enough not to mention WVU beat Auburn....oops
Oops? Doesn't bother me. WVU dominated Auburn. What's your point? I'm not one of these tyical goobs on here who makes excuses for their teams. So WVU beat Auburn, what's your point?
