Unfortunately, the 'Red Zone' Means 'Stop' for the Bears
Like the Power Play in Hockey, a team's 'Red Zone' efficiency tells you quite a bit about how things are going offensively.  This is why it is no surprise that the Chicago Bears are struggling with goalline success  They have serious offensive line trouble, an inexperienced wide-receiving corps, and have had to overcome several key interceptions by Jay Cutler near the goalline.

Specifically, Chicago is tied for 25th in Red Zone efficiency at 44.4 %.  In addition, only six teams in the NFL have had more chances inside the 20 than the Bears.  They have had the opportunity to score many more points, but stalled drives and turnovers inside the 20 have been incredibly frustrating to Chicago and their fans.

Bears fans are hopeful that this can change, but the offensive line and receivers looked lost at times agianst a horrible Cleveland team on Sunday.  This week's home game against Arizona should be much more difficult, so if the Red Zone means stop on Sunday, the Bears could fall to 4-4.

The Bears O-Line is sta-rugga-ling, even in the red zone. One question I'd like to ask: Is it me, or has Orlando Pace lost a step, better yet looking lost on the O-Line?
Yeah, Orlando Pace is really showing his age.  Unfortunately, so is Olin Kruetz.  That is a bad combination and means Culter spends Sundays running for his life.

The Bears defense has been going steadily downhill since Ron Rivera left. Rivera had that defense playing excellent football. The Babitch thing didn't work out and now we have the Lovie Smith defense. Smith let personalities get in the way of winning and now we are looking at a season no better than 8-8. Maybe next year, but not if Lovie Smith is still running the defense it will be worth the payday loan.

Pace is old and slow.  Omiyale is a tackle by trade.  Beekman did improve the running game going left by a whole yard per carry but he struggled in passing downs.  Kruetz is mystery, his talent seem to be rapidly declining.  Garza seems to be a steady force and Williams is still a rookie who needs time.  Cutler needs to recognize the defense and change the protection scheme at the line.  Turner needs to keep Olson out of the backfield.  As he is not a blocker.  With no picks in the first or second round next year, the Bears need to fill holes through FA.  They need to fire O-Line coach, Harry Heistand.  Time for a change.
