Team USA beat Canada 6-5 in the World Junior Hockey Championship, giving the Americans a glimpse of hope for the future of the sport in America. Right now, most NHL teams are dominated by a strong Canadian presence (not that there's anything wrong with that), but perhaps accomplishments like this will start to turn the tide and create a stronger American force in the game.
The Americans were leading 5-3, but let the Canucks sneak back into it, before scoring the game winner in overtime to clinch the championship for the good guys.
John Carlson scored the game winning goal, and it was his second of the game. Jerry D'Amigo, Derek Stepan, Chris Krieder and Jordan Schroeder scored the other goals for Team USA.
