Details of this are a little sketchy at the moment, but the Togo international team bus has been under attack by gunmen on the border of Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

One thing that is known for sure is that the driver of the bus has been killed. Several of the players are reportedly injured, up to now it is thought that Serge Akakpo and Kodjovi Obilele are amongst them but Manchester City striker Emanuelle Adebayor is unharmed but obviously shaken.

Many of the countries in Africa are extremely unstable, and sadly Angola is one of them, which does beg the question as to why a major footballing event is being held there with many high profile players taking part.

I would also say that I have no clue why the tournament is taking place during the domestic season of all of the worlds major leagues. Why drag the players away from their clubs during the season? This though is a bit of a minor issue when it's compared with this shooting, so maybe that is for another thread. I'm sure more information will come out as the day goes on, but apparently the terrorists were using machine guns on the coach and attacked it just as it crossed into the country...
