Its been a while since the last Fridge sighting.  Its too bad that this is what it took to hear from him again. He  was hospitalized to deal with complications from Guilliane Barre Syndrome..  I don't know what that is, but it doesnt sound all that good.

So many great times with The Fridge watching the Chicago Bears. I actually remember how people laughed at how big in stature he was. . .  that was until he showed his agility and tackled opponents silly.

The Fridge is one of my all time favorites.  First jersey I ever had and I met him at the Bears expo when I was a little boy.  He signed my jersey and I have a picture with him sitting on his shoulders.  AWESOME guy and I'll cherish that memory forever.  My thoughts and prayers are with him.

He was my favorite GI Joe..  He eventually was the heavyweight champion in a match I had with him against Sgt.  Slaughter and Destro who had teamed to become something of a all time evil  tag team in my GI joe wrestling Federation..

uhh...  flashback to childhood.  sorry about that

I pray for the best for the Fridge.

The Fridge was a blast until Ditka decided to give the ball to him instead of Walter Payton in the Super Bowl.  That touchdown should have been Payton's lifetime-achievement award.  Good luck Fridge.

He was by far my favorite GI Joe too.  I had the special edition one I had to send away for.  He had that big mace that had a football at the end of it I would use to wreck Cobra.

One of my first football memories was my uncle shouting at the television in an angry fashion because of Ditka giving the ball to the Fridge instead of Walter.  There is still some angst to this day over that.  The way Walter handled that was very classy though.

As a Canuck with limited television back then, NFL wasn't a big deal in our house until around the time of that Super Bowl play.  I remember watching the game with HUGE excitement and when it was over, bemoaning the fact that I now had to wait months until I could watch football again.  He is one of the reasons I am a fan of the NFL today.  I wish him the very best.

Guillain-Barre is a chronic condition.  It is an autoimmune disease affecting the peripheral nervous system, usually triggered by an acute infectious process.  It is frequently severe and usually exhibits as an ascending paralysis noted by weakness in the legs that spreads to the upper limbs and the face along with complete loss of deep tendon reflexes. With prompt treatment the majority of patients will regain full functional capacity. However, death may occur if severe pulmonary complications.

I wish he wasn't in the news for something so tragic!  What a sad thing for such a great man!  I, too, remember him well.  He was always squashing my team's players *LOL*  You and your family are in my prayers
*Fridge-man*!  With your fighting ability you can conquer this too!  (He weighed over 300 lbs, losing that 100 lbs, hopefully was planned and is helping him to deal with this condition.)
