Yes, it is comical but there is a serious issue there. We have some pretty scary diseases out there these days. I am the general manager of a gym and I am constantly sanitizing and cleaning everything down to the baseboards on a daily basis. I can't trust my members to stay away if they have something and my members trust me to keep a clean facility. If I knew that a member of mine had herpes and was sweating all over the equipment, using their towel to wipe their face then the equipment? Oh hell no. They would be kicked out in a heartbeat. I don't blame the kids for suing. If the coach was aware there was a problem and let the kid back in anyways, they fully deserve what is coming to them.
I would not be surpised if it was true. I use to wrestle in High School, and Ring Worm was a very common diease that could be transmitted from one person to another if the mats were not properly cleaned before and after every practice. I am no expert on how herpes can be transmitted, but if the mats were not properly sanatized, then it is no shocker to me.
I would not surpise me if the wrestlers caught it at school. But here's a question for everyone out there Who at the school is the one in charge of seeing that the wrestling mats or any school's gym equipment , or anything that is used in the gym. Also were the coaches following the rules set down by the NCAA or the state board of health. If I was in charge of the school athletic department I would call in all coaches and read the the riot act and ask them what the hell was going on with their team and gear. Then send out a notice that read as followed TO ALL COACHES , TRAINERS , EQUIPMENT MANAGERS , AND STUDENTS , PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL EQUIPMENT IS WIPE DOWN AT THE END OF THE DAY AND DON'T USE THE THE TOWEL YOU USE TO WIPE SWEAT OFF WITH OR FACE SEVERE PENALTIES. THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE ARE NOW IN CHARGE OF MAKING SURE THAT THE EQUIPMENT IS PROPERLY CLEANED TRAINERS , EQUIPMENT MANAGERS. IF THE GEAR IS NOT PROPERLY CLEANED AFTER IT IS DONE BEING USED THE FOLLOWING PUNISHMENT WILL BE HANDED DOWN 1st Time - Said team equipment manager will written up and get a warning from the Athletic Director, 2nd Time- written up and suspend for 10 days, 3rd Time- final written warning and suspend for 3 months, 4th and final time- fired from job on team and ban from gym for 1 year
