Yankees beat Angels 4-3 in 13 innings in ALCS Game 2
The Yankees capitalize on uncharacteristic Angels errors to win Game 2 in 13 innings, 4-3
17
The Angels were one of the best fielding teams in baseball during the regular season, and were known for their consistency and generally fundamental play. Apparently they can't handle the cold weather, because for the second night in a row, they made key errors that cost them the game. They averaged about 1 error every 2 games during the season, but they've made 5 errors in 2 games against the Yankees so far. One of the errors was a throwing error by 2B Maicer Izturis in the bottom of the 13th inning, allowing Jerry Hairston Jr to score.

The series heads back to Anaheim now, with the Angels trailing 2 games to none.

A staple of Mike Scoscia's teams has always been that they very rarely beat themselves.  The Angels had there chances to steal Game 2, couldnt do it and now there backs are against the wall in what comes down to a "must-win" Game 3

If only they played this way against the Red Sox, maybe the Sox could have won the... wait, who am I kidding? The Red Sox still wouldn't have scored any runs.

How much stock would you put in the Latin players not being able to handle the cold?  That's not meant to be racist, just geographically relevant.  Even a few announcers were talking about that.  I guess we'll see when they head back down to LA for a substantially warmer couple of games.

Evidently the there are only "Angels in the Outfield" and not in the infield.

Yeah, but who doesn't want to see a baseball game in Yankee Stadium on Nov 8th for all the marbles?

What was it... brain freeze? I blame the slurpee he had in the dugout between innings for the error, not the weather. What the hell was Izturis thinking?  "I'll look fantastic if I make this play, but if I mess if up the announcers will say since I'm Latin I just can't play in the cold?"

Just a bonehead play. Get the out and hope the next guy goes down and doesn't get the job done like Vlad.

Yeah, it's a stupid excuse, but one they were throwing around, nonetheless. I think it's not such a good thing that ANY of the players have to play so far into the fall, regardless of where they come from

It's clear what has happened here. A-Rod has transferred his playoff choking spirit to the Angels.

The explanation for poor play was "cold got in my eyes."
