Yankees beat Angels 5-2, face Phillies in the World Series
It'll be the Yankees and the Phillies in the World Series. Should be a good one.
Thanks to Vlad Guerrero's horrendously stupid baserunning, and Scott Kazmir's awesome throw to first, the Yankees handled the Angels pretty easily tonight, winning 5-2. They're now headed to the World Series to face the Phillies.

And let me tell you something, this should be a great World Series. We have the reigning champs going up against the most successful (and most hated) team in baseball history.

And you know what? I like the Phillies right now. Mainly because the Yankees struggled mightily all series against the Angels to drive runners in, and their middle relief has been craptacular this postseason. Plus the Phillies are just as loaded with hitters as the Yankees are. But hey, come Wednesday, we'll see what happens.

I'll give the Phillies all the credit in the world. They are as complete a team as any of the 30, and they never quit. They have the heart of a champion. I sat in the frigid night watching them beat my Rockies in a game they had no right to win, and then I watched on TV the following night as the Rox were one strike away from forcing Game 5 and the Phils roared back again. Colorado had been 45-0 during the regular season at home when leading after 8 innings-- until that game. Then they made even easier work of LA. They actually have lost two games though, one in each series. Regardless, they are a dominant team and I'm going out on a limb and saying they beat the Yankees and become the first repeating champions from the NL since the 1975-6 Reds.

You can't be serious? Why does no one give the Phillies any credit? Did people forget the path of destruction they left through the playoffs last year? Hell, they've lost one game so far in this postseason. Vegas didn't respect them either, considering them the least likely club of the 4 teams who made the ALCS and NLCS to ultimately win the World Series. Boggles the mind. Am I missing something? Seriously. What is it this team is missing? Bats? Pitching? Coaching? What is it, I'd love for someone to tell me.

All of those things you just mentioned can be said about the Yankees as well.  The Phillies don't own the blueprint on how to win games.  The Yankees have done a great job all season.  They do hold the best record in baseball for a reason.  And come Wednesday, you'll see why.  CC Sabathia and A-Rod will be the difference.

Honestly, how many people thought we'd see a postseason where A-Rod was being described as the difference in a positive way?

Even though I'm from the West, I like to see East teams battle for championships (if my team isn't in the equation).  The excitement is palpable, and there's usually a lot more drama involved.  Should be a great Series.
What's the over/under on games called for weather in this Series?  That's what MLB gets for having the playoffs run into November

As a Mets fan, this is baseball armageddon for me.  I will not watch a single second of this year's series and I will be rooting for Al Queda, or at the very least, a bus crash on the NJ Turnpike.  Wake me in the spring.

PHILLIES in 6 against the over paid Yankees. You can see the desire within the Phillie organization. They want it bad. Yankkes on the other hand figure thier cocky attitude is going to win it for them. Just another walk in the park. Phillies are the real deal. Sorry yankkes you may need to sign Roy (doc) Halliday next year and try again.

That is just wrong AlQueda?? i think what you are trying to say is. You are formerly trying to remove your head from your ass. And when you have something  that is worth saying you will definately think about you word it before you go off half cocked :)
Have a nice day

against anyone but cliff lee, you would be right.  lee will take down sabathia and the phils will win a hard fought 7 game series.   lucky for the yankees the angels proved so error prone.

It's not what you have it's how you use it.  Phillies have heart, Yanks feel entitled.  Phils in 7.

Trust me, if you root for the Yankees or the Phillies, the terrorists win.

I won't deny the Yankees have done well. With their payroll, they'd better succeed. I'm sure you get tired of hearing everyone comment about how much more money they spend than EVERYONE else, but it's simply a matter of fact. If you can hire all the best talent, your company should lead its field. However, that hasn't happened since 2000 and it won't happen this year either. Phillies in seven.
