Yankees win Game 6 of the World Series 7-3, win 27th World Series Championship

The Yankees once again were Pedro Martinez's daddy, as they beat the Phillies 7-3 in Game 6 of the World Series, to take home the Commissioner's Trophy for the 27th time in franchise history, which is more championships than any other team in all of major sports.

Hideki Matsui won the World Series MVP trophy, after batting .615 in the series, with 3 HR and 8 RBI. 6 of the RBI came in the clincher, as Matsui carried the Yanks to victory tonight.

Andy Pettitte picked up the win, his 2nd of the series, and his 4th of this postseason. Congrats to him and the rest of the Yankees on an excellent season, and a great World Series for them and their fans.

The Phillies could never really get a big hit in this series and when Mariano Rivera comes in, that's as automatic as it gets (even at his age).  The guy is amazing.

Yes, of course I'm psyched the Yanks one. One of the better series in a while, minus the terrible calls by the umps. Philadelphia was also destined, and impressive. great pitching by Lee, and Utley could have easily been series MVP. But the Yanks happened to be more determined....now that the series is all over, maybe I can finaly get to bed at a decent time.!

There are a lot of things I could say about the Yankees winning the World Series. As I sat and looked at one player ( Derek Jeter) I could not help but think, he is going down in history as one of the greatest sports champions in professional sports HISTORY!!!!!

I thought coming to this site would be different...seems if your team is not the one who wins then its insult and slur time.
Just because YOUR team is not willing to pay and other teams do does not make them the bad guys.  Some teams even have players who take PAY-CUTS to improve their teams...is YOURS not one of those?   Does your teams owner not want to pay out what is needed to field a winner?
SOUR GRAPES is what most these blogs are.  You can't be happy for anyone/team unless it you and yours.

See my above comment about it others could afford it.

Next, it doesn't take a baseball genius to notice holes in the top of the pitching rotation and at first base would be best filled by throwing tons and tons of money at the best free agents out there.  So please don't claim the Yankees have smart management.  Only if they won with a limited budget would they be considered to have smart management.  As it stands, the Twins braintrust is light years ahead of the Yankees in terms of smart baseball management.

Tex would have been a PERFECT fit for the Giants this year.  But they simply did not have the coin to throw at him they Yankees could.  Period.
