Another upset, and this time, John Calipari called it. He watched the tape.#13 Cleveland State 84, #4 Wake Forest 69
Cleveland State was leading this one from start to finish. Quite frankly, Wake Forest never had a chance. Cedric Jackson had 19 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the Vikings, while Norris Cole and J'Nathan Bullock added 22 and 21 points, respectively. Wake Forest's Jeff Teague didn't contribute as much as he usually does, and ended up with only 10 points. That's 9 points below his season average, and was a big reason for Wake's defeat. Cleveland State will face Arizona, who was another upset winner.
#9 Siena 74, #8 Ohio State 72 (2OT)
Siena pulled off a slight shocker against Ohio State, becoming the first mid-major of the tournament to win a game against a BCS conference school. It took 2 overtimes to decide it, but the Saints eventually won out, thanks to Ronald Moore's 3-pointer with 3.9 seconds left. Moore also hit a shot late in the first OT period to extend the game, and contributed with 6 assists and 3 steals. Siena has the unenviable task of playing overall #1 seed Louisville in the round of 32.
#12 Wisconsin 61, #5 Florida State 59 (OT)
Another OT thriller, and another 12/5 upset. Florida State was dominant in the first half, jumping out to a 12 point lead and only allowing 19 points to the Badgers. The tables were turned later in the game, however, when Wisconsin tied it up in regulation and took over in OT. Trevon Hughes made a 3-point play with 2 seconds left to give the Badgers the W. They play Xavier next.
#2 Michigan State 77, #15 Robert Morris 62
Nothing to see here, folks. Just another #2 seed beating up on a 15th seed. This was the most uneventful and unsurprising game out of the later bunch. They'll play USC next.
