Players need to be ready to pass, shoot or dribble ... fans need to know the scores, stats and rumors. Your daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:What You Need to Know
"Only" 43 for Kobe, but 5 in a row for Lakers Kobe's streak is over, after he "only" scored 43 points last night (along with 9 boards, no assists, and 7 turnovers). However, the Lakers squeaked out a 115-113 win over the Warriors for their season high fifth straight win. Lamar Odom also had a huge night for LA, scoring 24 points and bringing down an incredible 19 rebounds. It's a bigger loss for Golden State, who are now a game and a half behind the idle Clippers.
Gordon beats the clock; Bulls beat Pacers First, Ben Gordon hit a buzzer beater to end the third quarter. That was the warmup act. With 2.8 seconds remaining, Gordon hit a fadeaway (over Mike Dunleavy) that gave the Bulls a 92-90 over Indiana. Not surprisingly, Gordon led the Bulls with 31. The win clinched Chicago a .500 season, which means absoultely nothing. The Pacers, meanwhile, continue to lose. At some point, it should keep them out of playoff contention (they're still only a half game out). I think.
Mike Bibby takes over and upsets Suns Vintage Bibby appeared in Sacramento last night. Bibby scored 37 and the Kings shocked Phoenix 107-100. In addition to his 37, Bibby hit a franchise record nine three pointers, including two in the final 1:15 to seal the deal. Spurs fans are understandbly happy for the Suns loss, but they're still 3 games back with 13 to play. That's still quite a bit to make up in a short amount of time.
Best Lines (non Kobe division)
- Mike Bibby, Sac- 37 pts, 12-23 FG, 9-12 3PT, 4 rebs, 5 ast, 1 stl
- Jason Maxiell, Det- 19 pts, 9-13 FG, 15 rebs (9 off), 4 blk...In the starting lineup for the suspended Rasheed Wallace, Maxiell went crazy on the glass and the Pistons destroyed the Bucks.
- Chris Paul, NOK- 28 pts, 10-15 FG, 4-5 3PT, 5 rebs, 5 ast, 0 TO...Very, very nice win for the Hornets over the Rockets. The Hornets are still two games out of the 8th seed, but with more wins like that, they won't be for much longer.
- Artest talking about retiring Why do we still listen to what Artest has to say?
- Reynolds staying at Villanova Good choice by Reynolds. If he can build up on the momentum he started at the end of his freshman year, he can move up the draft board.
- Sampson says White should take his draft stock I'll leave this to the draftniks among us. Is White a first or second round pick, and what's his NBA future look like?
