Covering all the bases from a Friday night in MLB ...
20 H, 15 R Sea 15, NYY 11. If you enjoy watching people get kicked why they are down, or simply just don't like the Yankees this was your kind of show. As much as I enjoyed this guilty pleasure, I felt the tiniest bit of sympathy for Colter Bean. Poor guy couldn't get an out and booed as if he had donned a Red Sox hat heading to the dugout. If you're a Yank fan, this words probably summarize the evening: Simply Disgusting. (Pinstripe Alley)
Maine Unit NYM 5, ARI 3. If you hadn't already it's probably time to start paying attention to John Maine. No longer is it merely a hot start for the young guy, he may be the best pitcher in the NL right now. Reaching his league leading 5th win, Maine gave up 1 run and now sports a 1.37 ERA. The other main man - Julio Franco. The 97-year old hit his 173 home career home run.
Red Sox take turn at the top Bos 2, Min 0. 3 days in a row, 3 different league best records. Wakefield's knuckle was dancing a little extra to give Boston a league leading 19-9 record.
Mitchell investigation to begin questioning Like every other steroid related information, I'm not going to expect any names until it happens. But at least something, anything at all is moving forward: "Former Senator George Mitchell, who was appointed by Major League Baseball to form a commission to investigate the use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) in baseball, has begun requesting interviews with active players. The interviews are seen as a possible shift in the year-long investigation. The commission would not say how many players had been contacted via letters requesting their appearance, and it remains to be seen how many will appear before those investigating as Mitchell has no power of subpoena." (Biz of Baseball)
(pssst - Cubs have won 6 out of 7. Don't tell anyone)
