I choose to rarely consider a life without sports. Today is the rare exception. The All Star Game is followed by the one day of the year without a single meaningful sporting event. No baseball, no basketball (summer league doesn't count), no football, no golf. Perhaps the Tour de France counts, but that it's France so who cares. Even as a sports obsessed fanatic, I can come to grips with this day void of meaningful competition being completely healthy.
But what's a sports fan to do today?
1. Plan out your entire Fantasy NFL Draft Strategy. We know who you'd take at number 1, but who's going to be your 3rd wide receiver?
2. Watch Marco Belinelli Summer League highlights on repeat.
3. Marisa Miller
4. Read a book ... about sports, of course. Paul Shirley's Can I Keep My Jersey? and Tim Kirkjian's Is This a Great Game or What? both uniquely have question marks and are both uniquely interesting.
5. Map out the first 15 offensive plays to start your NCAA Football '08 Dynasty. That game can't come out soon enough. Bonus geek points if you actually create a wrist band guide to your plays.
6. Make up a new sport. Apparently, it's not all that difficult.
7. Create your own awesome nerf basketball highlight reel
8. Don't watch Fox's Don't Forget the Lyrics.
9. Watch this old video on repeat. I actually think I could watch it all day.
10. Make a really lame top 10 list because you don't have much else to talk about. Sorry.
How will you spend the one day of the year without sports?
