Beijing 2008 Olympic Games NBC Schedule What To Watch Day 8
Time For The Fast Men On Land To Get Started
Gymnastics competition will continue with the individual exercises over the weekend, but I'm not sure anything can top the women's All-Around competition last night. A fitting way to end the major competitions in that featured Olympic sport. Now we can turn our attention to Michael Phelps 7th gold medal, but more exciting for me, is the start of Track & Field at the National Stadium.

Tyson Gay and Usain Bolt begin their quest to be the fastest man in the world with 100m prelims. That's just part of the featured action today. Here's what to watch on Day 8 of the Beijing Olympic Games:

On NBC

The national coverage will feature swimming, of course, at the water cube where the gold medal will be decided in the men's 100m butterfly, men's 50m free, women's 200m backstroke and 800m freestyle. Phelps is competing for his 7th gold medal in the 100 fly, arguably the toughest race he'll have, which would only be fitting as a victory would tie Mark Spitz for the most medals in one Olympics.

NBC will also take us over the National Stadium for the first runs of Tyson Gay, Usain Bolt and the other speedsters hoping to steal the spotlight. We'll also see a portion of the shot put finals. Hooray!

In addition, the USA men's volleyball team is taking on China which will get some covage this evening.

On CNBC

Boxing, all boxing, all day. Do they show anything else? It's too bad the sport isn't what it used to be.

On USA Network

USA women's soccer is on live right now vs Canada. The other quarterfinals matchup will be shown today, as well. The other featured game this morning is the US women's basketball team vs China, shown live.

USA vs Cuba baseball will be on later, as will more beach volleyball and some cycling events.

On MSNBC

It's USA vs China Day, apparently. The women's volleyball showdown will be shown live this morning. Following volleyball, it's a day of obscure sports including women's team table tennis competition, badminton, women's handball (awesome!) and some men's weightlifting, which will hopefully be light on arms splitting in half.

Fine day of worldly sporting competition. We'll have a live thread up later today for the featured events.
