10 Best College Football Games of the Year: Oct 20 California at UCLA
36 days until College Football kicks off. Over the next two weeks I'll be listing the 10 games I think will define the 2007 season. They also double as the 10 games I'd most like to attend. Go figure. Next Friday I'll have you rank the 10 best games of the year with your submissions included. So if you'd like me to include a game send me a note, I can be persuaded. There's still a few spots left in my list.

October 20th: California at UCLA

Unfortunately, I think a lot of people are sleeping on the Pac 10. It's not just USC. I'll take the bottom two teams this year over any other conferences basement. Top to bottom it may very well be the best conference this season. Two teams that will have a lot to do with the Pac 10's perception nationwide are UCLA and California. Sure, USC-Cal and USC-UCLA are big games, but I think these two matching up late October will be the most critical game out West.

What's On The Line
Cal - This all hinges on Cal being undefeated, which I predict they will be (home vs Tennessee, @ Oregon), with a Top 10 ranking. The chance to play USC for the Pac 10 Title will hang in the balance for both, but particularly the Bears. Big game for DeSean Jackson's underdog Heisman run. UCLA - Should be undefeated as well (vs Notre Dame) coming off a 2 week break following the Irish. A win could catapult the Karl Dorrell Era into the bright lights. They were just short of a few big wins last year, and obviously beat USC to end the season. Bruins aren't far from the top of the conference. A win here and UCLA takes Cal's spot in the top ten and Brentwood will be abuzz.

Way Too Early Prediction
Home team has won this matchup for the last 6 years. For those who want a playoff, consider this an elimination semifinal game for the Pac 10. Loser it out. DeSean Jackson is the best player on the field, but the Bruins have a better D. Whether it's Ben Olsen or Patrick Cowan at QB, UCLA will have the edge. Their surprise run will continue Oct 20th. Bruins 27, Bears 23.
