#2 Texas Tech Red Raiders Vs #9 Oklahoma State Cowboys Live Thread
The Big 12 Could Come Down To This Game, Believe It Or Not
If you're lucky enough to get this one, look forward to an exciting offensive battle between #2 Texas Tech and #9 Oklahoma State. If you don't get it, you'll be able to watch Cal and USC, so you'll probably be fine as well.

However, the big game tonight is definitely this Big 12 matchup. Oklahoma State comes in with only 1 loss at 8-1, while Texas Tech still sports a flawless 9-0 record. Both schools are having banner years, and had great games against Texas. Unfortunately for OSU, they didn't quite finish well enough, and took a tough loss. The Red Raiders, on the other hand, propelled themselves into the National Championship picture by beating the Longhorns.

77% of FanIQ picked the Red Raiders to keep their undefeated record. I'll go the other way, and say that Oklahoma State will come in and surprise them, and win a shootout, 38-34.

If you're watching, chat it up here or on the game page. If you're watching a different game, check out our other live thread, and discuss the games with other fans. Enjoy.

I have Texas Tech winning 42-24...probably going to be closer than that, but I still think the Red Raiders come out with a big win.

This is probably the turning point of the season.  With Penn State taken down today... will Texas Tech take the driver's seat in the Big 12, or will we have a 4 team tie after tonight?!?  It will be a free-for-all if Okie State can come in and win.

Finally we're going to maybe start ELIMINATING some title contenders again, after quite a few weeks of a growing collection.

wow, best way to start for the Cowboys.

I got Oklahoma St 35-31.  I think the Cowboys are as solid of a team as there is in the nation.  Should be a good one.

Also, purely hypothetical, but if Texas Tech wins does anyone consider them as the #1 team in the nation?

What a catch, tied up already.

5 minutes, 14 points.  We're on pace for 168 total points.

Depends how well they play in a win.

Bama looked pretty bad, even if it was in the Bayou..

Good use of the calculator over on the start menu

Is Texas Tech #1 if they win?  Good question...

LSU is really not a top 10 team, they just haven't played anyone of note.

But I can give Bama some credit because LSU had a big ax to grind, and it was in Baton Rouge.

It's a very tight question at this point.

Gundy doing that sitting on the trunk, not paying attention to the field, i forget which game it was earlier in the season where he did that too.

I'll preface this by saying it's really irrelevant. #1 and #2 are the same thing. Both will play each other in the end, and if Tech and Bama win out, they WILL play in the NC game.

But anyway... I think it would be fair to put Tech in the #1 spot. Until the past 2 weeks, Alabama had the advantage in strength of schedule. But after beating Texas and hypothetically Oklahoma State, I think the strength of schedule shifts in Texas Tech's favor. And then with OSU playing OU and 'Bama likely playing Florida in the SEC championship game, I think those even out, giving Tech the advantage, and making them the #1 team, imo.

TD TTU...I have a feeling I'm gonna say that a few more times tonight...

Watching Texas Tech with the ball is a treat.  I've been very impressed overall with them thus far.  I'm probably a week behind everyone else with this since I missed their game last week.

I don't think I've ever seen a 97-yard drive go so easy.

Bigger question to me:
What would it take to NOT have the Big 12 winner and SEC winner in the title game at this point?

If Bama loses (say to Auburn), then beats Florida?
If the Big 12 north winner wins the Big 12?

What if that happens?  Number one, is it Penn State or USC?!?
And what if I continue to play hypothetical and say those teams lose?

I'd rather have two clear teams to end the season, but what if :)

What if you just sat down for the next couple weeks and enjoy the college football games on your television?

It's a lot less of a headache.

Tech still has to play one other team I hear..... OKLAHOMA

Unless USC starts scoring 100 points in games I don't think anyone has to worry about the title game being something other than Big 12 winner vs  Florida/Alabama

Wow, I thought he had that there at the half!  Could've really used it

Another big play that goes through a recievers hands.  That last one is a bit more understandable though.

Definitely not the way to start the 2nd half.

Harrell to Crabtree...TD

Surprised?

Well, maybe this one isn't over yet?

I remember a similar large lead about 7 days ago!

Even when things are going Oklahoma State's way they find a way to trip over themselves.  Its just Tech's night so far.  They look great.

The scary thing is that Michael Crabtree has to come back next year.

Exactly.  It's irrelevant until one of those teams lose.

But for entertainment purposes, I would vote Tech #1 right now.  They are by far the most impressive team in the nation right now.  And I am officially 0-3 when I pick them to lose.

Yea, I'm that good.

Just don't go all Maurice Clarett on us, and it will all be okay.

Anyone know how the hell West Va managed to tie up their game against Cincy?

BTW, am I the only one that noticed WVU putting up 11 in the last 54 seconds on Cincinnati to bring it into OT?

I was wondering the same thing!

And a 52 yard field goal to end regulation?  Yikes.

I'm too busy watching UF for some reason still.

Irrelevant anyways, they lose in OT.

6 TD for Harrell, how does he not get the Heisman at this point?

Colt McCoy is still completing a whole 9% more of his passes than Harrell.  I wouldn't be opposed to Harrell winning the Heisman but I still think McCoy is more deserving.

Fair enough, both are unreal at this point though. I'd give the nod to Harrell.

What about Bradford? The only knock against him was that McCoy beat him. Now that McCoy has a loss as well, shouldn't people be looking at Bradford again?

Bradford also has a lower completion rate, but he has 11 more TD's and only 1 more INT, and has a 189 QB rating, 8 points better than McCoy. 500 more yards, a full yard per attempt more than McCoy, etc. The only thing Colt has are his legs, which could make the argument interesting... but I think that as a QB, Bradford is better.

I think we can all agree that the Big 12 has some ridiculously good QBs.  I would hate to be a defensive coordinator for a Big 12 team this year.

My boys in Bradford and Tebow aren't looking too shabby themselves.  But it is what have you done for me recently... it's a dead heat down the stretch!

11/8/08

Ouch... well two teams we weren't sure about came into this game... one came out looking like contenders... and one comes out looking like a 3rd grade girl.

Oklahoma State has a lot of work to do still...

If it's not a Big XII QB, then something's messed up.

Tebow could be the biggest argument against Bradford, McCoy, and Harrell; but there's just no chance in my mind that he can steal votes from those three.

I would have no problems with Michael Crabtree winning it.

That could be something that ends up hurting Harrell in the voting.

Tebow managed even with Harvin getting lots of interest... I think it'll be up to who wins them games down the stretch.  It's so hard for a WR to get a Heisman, though.  Even though Crabtree was the name people knew before the season (if they knew one), I bet.
