Carnasty is hopefully a thing of the past. The last British Open held at Carnoustie was very roughly defined as golf. "Unfair and ridiculous" was the general theme. You may remember first round leader Rod Pampling following up his impressive Thursday with an 86 on Friday. Then of course, the Jean Van de Velde episode.Expect better conditions, but I still wouldn't expect low scoring golf.
Here's your odds for the Open Championship
Tiger Woods 3/1
Ernie Els 12/1
Phil Mickelson 14/1
Jim Furyk 20/1
Vijah Singh 25/1
Padraig Harrington 25/1
Justin Rose 28/1
Luke Donald 28/1
Sergio Garcia 33/1
Retief Goosen 33/1
Adam Scott 33/1
Paul Casey 40/1
Niclas Fasth 40/1
Angel Cabrera 40/1
Geoff Ogilvy 40/1
Field 5/1
3 to Consider
Justin Rose Consistency and putting are key, he has them both
Sean O'Hair Because I'm going to keep considering him a sleeper until he wins a major, which will happen sooner rather than later.
Paul Casey Expect him to parlay his impressive US Open in tough condition into a Top 5 finish in Scotland.
My Prediction: Tiger Woods by at least 5 strokes. Not bold, but sometimes the right answer isn't. Putting the baby slump rumors to rest is at the top of his list.
