My take on the biggest winners of the 2007 NBA DraftSeattle Supersonics
Big thumps up for GM Sam Presti on his first big night. First they picked up a player that would have been the first pick in nearly every draft this century. Then he hosed Danny Ainge (which I suppose isn't hard) in a deal to acquire Jeff Green. Michael Jordan need Scottie Pippen. Kevin Durant has his Scottie Pippen. Delonte West is a decent back up point guard, and Wally Szczerbiak is more than capable of knocking down some 3's (I'm a little biased with him). Carl Landry with the 31st will also prove valuable.
Portland Trailblazers
I hate the Zach Randolph trade, but that's not enough to take them out of the winners category. Clearly, acquiring Greg Oden would be reason enough, but I love the rest of their picks. Essentially drafted a College All-American team. McRoberts, not my favorite, but with the 37th pick you can't expect a much better player. Taurean Green, Demetris Nichols and Derrick Byars all are more than capable. Most importantly, all of these guys are mature, a trait lost on the Blazers during recent years.
Philadelphia 76ers
I've read a few comments from Sixers fans and bloggers who've expressed disappointment, but I believe they've acquire their future SF and C. That's all you can ask for in the draft.
Isiah Thomas
Didn't screw anything up (Assist to Danny Ainge for making him look even better). Zach Randolph is a big risk, but at least it's a 23 and 10 risk and not a shutting down a McDonald's Eddie Curry type risk.
Phoenix Suns
Smart draft. No reason to use that 24th pick if it doesn't fit ($$$). I promise you Alando Tucker is a stud. Dan Shanoff told me he's not athletic. Consider that a product of the Wisconsin system. Tucker IS athletic. Can't wait to watch him develop, and also picked up D.J. Strawberry who should make the roster with the 59th pick.
