I don't really remember a whole lot from Elementary School, mostly that recess was cool, I had way too much hair and that the best means to reach an answer was to first eliminate all the incorrect options. So that's what I'm going to do with selecting the PGA Championship Winner this weekend at Southern Hills in Oklahoma. One element to the Championship makes this very easy --- it's going to be 100-110 degrees in Tulsa.
Step 1: Eliminate Anyone Overweight
John Daly could be eliminated from consideration for a lot of reason, but foremost, being fat and smoking doesn't bode well in heat. Tim Herron, no chance. For his sake I hope he misses the cut because it will save his life. Tim Clark, Colin Montgomerie, Lee Westwood, Kenny Perry will also struggle. I know you're not going to like this, but I'm still throw the man boobs into this group. Phil Mickelson will struggle the further this tournament progresses. Not necessarily overweight, but I'm lumping Angel Cabrera in here as well. It's hard to breath in Oklahoma humidity as is, throw in a pack of cigarettes and you've got yourself a mess.
Step 2: Eliminate Mental Midgets
Aka - Scratch off Sergio Garcia and Rory Sabbatini. I can hear it already on Sunday afternoon. Someone was out to get him and didn't properly provide a mister on his face at all times. As for Rory, he'll say something stupid and then fail to back it up. This much we know.
Other guys like the mental cajones -- Bubba Watson is a lose cannon, Luke Donald doesn't seem to handle major pressure yet ... same with CH III.
Step 3: Eliminate Anyone Not Named Tiger Woods
Seriously, can you really go against the guy this weekend? I can't fathom a season without one major win for Woods. It's the easy pick, but this is his type of course and as the most fit player on tour he will be the last man standing.
If you're not picking Tiger, who's your pick to win this weekend?
