2008 Boston College Recruiting Update - 2 weeks before National Signing Day
by Nick S

So far Jeff Jagodzinski and his staff have put together a great class for their first full year of recruiting. They haven't pulled in too many star players but they have got a bunch of underrated guys perfect for the system that BC plays. The 2008 team is stacked in the front 7 on the defensive side of the ball but they are very thin in the defensive back field. So that was one of the goals of the coaches, to go out and recruit a ton of athletes at those positions and they have fulfilled that goal and then some. They class has already received 27 verbal commitments and have 2 scholarships left to give out. First I will list the 27 commits (from first to commit to last) and a brief description of each of them.

Isaac Johnson, RB - Everett, MA. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Connecticut)
Notes: Top player in Massachusetts. #24 RB on Rivals.

Nick Halloran, DE/OL
- Cambridge, MA. 3 stars
Notes: One of ESPN's top 100 offensive linemen.

Christian Klein, TE/DE - Montvale, NJ. 2 stars (Other schools offering: Temple)
Notes: First team All-State New Jersey team.

Patrick Neumann, OL - Montvale, NJ. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Florida State, New Hampshire)
Notes: Top 60 OL on both Rivals and ESPN, Top 30 on Scout. Scout ranks him as the # 11 player in New Jersey. Second team All-State New Jersey team.

Josh Haden, RB - Fort Washington, MD. 4 stars (Other schools offering: Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Mississippi State, North Carolina, N.C. State, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Tennesse, Virginia, Virginia Tech)
Notes: Stunned the recruiting world when he chose BC over offers from just about everybody, including Florida, where his brother Joe plays football. Haden already has the BC logo tattooed to his chest. Ranked #109 overall recruit by Rivals, and their #3 all-purpose back.

Colin Larmond, WR
- Morristown, NJ. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Cincinnati, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Northwestern, Syracuse).
Notes: After he committed to BC, Colin received a call from Charlie Weis, who wanted to come visit him. Colin told Coach Weis sorry, but he was not interested. First team All-State New Jersey team. Rivals ranks him as the #11 player in NJ, and Scout has him at #13.

Justin Tuggle, QB - Duluth, GA. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Indiana, Mississippi State, Ohio, Western Kentucky).
Notes: NFL bloodlines and great looking film. Grades out at a nice 77 on ESPN, who has him as the #38 QB in the nation.

Donte Elliott, ATH - Houston, TX. 2 stars (Other schools offering: Kansas, Rice)
Notes: Speedy prospect who had a lot of Big 12 interest. Top 50 safety on ESPN.

Stephen Atkinson, DB - Fort Lauderdale, FL. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Akron, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Wisconsin)
Notes: The U wanted him to come visit. He said no.

Mike Stone, TE/DE - Holliston, MA. 2 stars (Other schools offering: Harvard, New Hampshire, Northeastern)
Notes: Great measurables. Has the potential to be a real sleeper. ESPN ranks him as the #44 TE in the country.

Clyde Lee, ATH - Fort Bend, TX. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State)
Notes: WR with blazing speed from Texas. Intriguing prospect. One of ESPN's Top 100 WRs, and one of Rivals' Top 75.

Kaleb Ramsey, DL - Uniontown, PA. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, West Virginia)
Notes: Chose BC over many offers due to BC's academic reputation. Grades out at 78 on ESPN. Top 30 defensive end on Rivals, Scout, and ESPN.

Bryan Murray, DT - Wheaton, MD. 2 stars (Other schools offering: Buffalo)
Notes: Champion wrestler in high school. ESPN Top 50 DT.

Max Holloway, DE/LB - Tampa, FL. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Cincinnati, Stanford, Syracuse)
Notes: Interest from Florida. Father played in the NFL.

Emmett Cleary, OL - Arlington Heights, IL. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Air Force, Army, Central Michigan, Indiana, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Rice)
Notes: Top 30 in Illinois. Top 70 OL on ESPN.

Codi Boek, QB - Sacramento, CA. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Grambling State)
Notes: Transfer from Idaho State. Film looks downright nasty.

Nick Clancy, LB - Joliet, IL. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Air Force, Ball State, Colorado, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Iowa State, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Toledo, Vanderbilt, Wyoming).
Notes: #10 player in Illinois.

Chris Hayden-Martin, DB - Greensburg, PA. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Akron, Alabama, Buffalo, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, New Hampshire, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Syracuse, Temple, Toledo, Villanova).
Notes: Decommitted from Pittsburgh. #14 player in PA.

Mike Goodman, OL - Miami, FL. 4 stars (Other schools offering: Auburn, Florida, Florida International, Florida State, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Mississippi, Rutgers, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Wisconsin, UCF).
Notes: Offers from everbody, including Florida's "Big 3" and chose BC. Rivals 250, ESPN 150, you name it.

Dominick LeGrande, ATH - Staten Island, NY. 2 stars (Other schools offering: Buffalo, Connecticut, Duke, Hofstra, Syracuse).
Notes: Top 10 prospect out of New York.

Donnie Fletcher, DB - Cleveland, OH. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Akron, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Marshall, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, N.C. State, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Toledo, West Virginia).
Notes: Top 30 in Ohio.

Alexander DiSanzo, LB - Ramsey, NJ. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Cincinnati, Colorado).
Notes: First team All-State New Jersey team. Top 20 player in NJ.

Christopher Pantale, TE
- Wayne, NJ. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Syracuse, Virginia)
Notes: #8 player in NJ. Huge recruiting win for BC over Michigan and UVA. The latest addition to what has been a fantastic haul for BC in NJ this year.

Ugo "Junior" Okpara, DB - Sugar Land, TX. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Arkansas, Baylor, Duke, Miami, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Rice, Virginia)
Notes: Decommitted from Arkansas. Top 50 player in Texas. ESPN has him as the # 17 CB in the nation.

Ryan Quigley, K - Little River, SC. 2 stars (Other schools offering: Louisiana Tech, South Carolina)
Notes: Voted South Carolina's Special Teams Player of the Year.

Eric Reynolds, RB - Warrington, PA. 3 stars (Other schools offering: Bowling Green, Connecticut, Delaware, Temple, Toledo)
Notes: Southeastern Pennsylvania Player of the Year. Top 40 player in PA.

Okechuckwu Okoroha, DB - Greenbelt, MD. 4 stars (Other schools offering: Akron, Cincinnati, Clemson, Connecticut, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, N.C. State, Penn State, Syracuse, Temple, Virginia)
Notes: Top 10 player in Maryland on both networks. Shocking commit, as many considered him an Illini lean. Big time recruiting win over Ron Zook, Penn State, and pretty much the entire ACC.

3 star recruits - 18
2 star recruits - 6

Like I said earlier the Eagles have 2 scholarships left and there are 3 leading candidates for the 2 spots. Those 3 candidates are Shane Turner-3 stars, Christian Wilson-4 stars and Terrance Robinson-4 stars. All three of these recruits have BC in their Final 3. Shane Turner has BC in his Top 3 with Fresno State and Rice and says he will decide next week after he takes his final visit to Rice. Christian Wilson had committed to Michigan before Rich Rodriguez and his Spread Offense was hired to coach and he fells like he might not fit well into that system so he opened up the search again. Wilson is down to Michigan, North Carolina and BC. Terrance Robinson visited Boston College last weekend and loved it there. He has BC in his top 3 with Wake Forest and Michigan. If BC lands 2 out of the 3 they will complete a very good recruiting class which can only improve next year.
