Take it for what it's worth America: one crazy man's opinion. The usual suspects are there, as Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma, and Florida all grace my top ten. But don't worry, this is a unique top 25 with explanations and all. Enjoy, and don't forget to use the space at the bottom to yell at me.

1. Georgia - The most balanced team in the country. They are my favorites because they should finally have a great offense under 3rd year starter Matt Stafford. Knowshon Moreno is the best back at Georgia in a long time. If Mark Richt can steer the ship in the right direction, then this is your team to beat.

2. Ohio State - Whether the rest of the country likes it or not, OSU will be competing for a third consecutive outright Big Ten title (nobody else in the conference is as complete a team as they are) and an unprecedented third consecutive trip to the National Championship Game.

3. USC - They are the most talented team in the country for about the 49th consecutive year, but they must once again overcome their toughest opponent: youth. Breaking in a new QB will be a challenge, especially because they face Ohio State in Week 3.

4. Oklahoma - They were the hottest team in the country last year before running into an emotional West Virginia team, but the Sooners return most of their top talent from last year and should be the favorite to win a third consecutive Big XII title. With Texas all but tamed, Okie's next big challenge is winning a big out-of-conference game.

5. West Virginia - I have this team rated a little higher than most publications that I've seen so far, and that's because they should be able to eat up most of their Big East foes once again. If only they could avoid that inevitable loss in a game that they should clearly win. Pat White is a Heisman candidate once again.

6. Illinois - The defense is solid, but the offense must rebuild after losing their best player in running back Rashard Mendendhall to the NFL. QB Juice Williams and WR Arrelious Benn are two of the best talents in the Big Ten, and this team will be tough to beat if they continue to develop as rapidly as they have in the past.

7. Clemson - They've been ranked in the preseason top ten before, only to fall out with an early season loss or two. I don't know if this team is different, but they are certainly the faves to win the ACC.

8. Florida - I'm betting that they will vault LSU as the second best team in the SEC. Defending Heisman winner Tim Tebow is back, and so is the rest of his cast of characters. They may have finally found a running back in USC castoff Emmanuel Moody.

9. Missouri - I don't think last season's 12-2 record was a fluke, and neither should you. This is a very experienced team, and running back Tony Temple is the only major contributor that they must replace. The defense could be the best in the Big XII.

10. LSU - Most teams have a down year after winning a National Championship, and LSU looks like they could fall hard. I'll be surprised if this very young - but also very talented - team ends the season in the top 15 or 20.

11. Wisconsin - The have to find a new QB, but all signs point to that new guy already being on campus. The running back bunch is one of the best in the nation, and coach Bret Bielema is as underrated as they come.

12. Auburn - Say it with me...the defense is good. If new Offensive Coordinator Tony Franklin can bring the offense up to speed with his new spread offense, Auburn could be the team to beat in the SEC West.

13. Oregon - The must replace their entire backfield, and they could get passed up by Arizona State in the Pac-10 if their defense doesn't catch up.

14. Virginia Tech - Frank Beamer played both Michael and Marcus Vick almost exclusively when they first stepped in Blacksburg, so I'm not sure why he still seems to be favoring Sean Glennon over phenom Tyrod Taylor. The defense must rebuild a bit, so there is no better time to let Taylor play and learn on the job.

15. Texas Tech - This could finally be the year that the Red Raiders overtake regular Texas for second in the Big XII South. Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree are the best QB-WR combo in the nation, and they could fight for the BCS if the defense can allow less than 500 yards a few times.

16. Arizona State - Teams are finally watching out for them, and if they beat Georgia on September 20, then this is your team to watch out for. The offense is solid, but the defense must step up for this team to take the next step into the BCS.

17. Wake Forest - Let's face it: Wake wouldn't be in the top 25 if Arkansas had been able to lure coach Jim Grobe. But Grobe decided to stay, and he returns one of the best defenses in the ACC along with an underrated offense.

18. Texas - I'm predicting a hard fall for the Longhorns. As a matter of fact, Mack Brown could finally wisen up and realize that backup QB John Chiles is much better than current starter Colt McCoy.

19. Michigan State - This is your team to watch out for in the Big Ten. The running game has been solid, and the passing game should receive a boost with the return of Brian Hoyer as the starting quarterback. They probably won't win the Big Ten this year, but 2009 could be the Year of the Spartan.

20. BYU - The are the best non-BCS team out there, but I don't expect them to crash the BCS party because of their tough schedule. The offense is solid and just keeps getting better, and the defense is underrated and capable.

21. USF - They seem to have West Virgina's number, and they could be fighting for the Big East title and a BCS bid if they record a 3rd consecutive win over the Mounties.

22. Kansas - They won't fall all the way back down to the bottom of the Big XII, but I also don't really expect this team to repeat last year's 12-win performance. Heisman hopeful QB Todd Reesing is back, and so is a stout defense that should help limit opponents to let the offense rack up the points - and hopefully the wins.

23. Alabama - Nick Saban sure can recruit, but we'll probably have to wait one more year to see all of those illegal phone calls pay off.

24. Fresno State - Pat Hill has one of his best teams at Fresno. And the best part is that this team is loaded with talented underclassmen.

25. Colorado - Cody Hawkins is ready to step up after an up-and-down rookie season to become the man in the Buffaloes offense. The defense is solid, and they could help this team pull off a few upsets.

Just missed out:

Michigan - Rodriguez is rebuilding in Ann Arbor.

UCF - George O'Leary has definitely turned the Knights around.

North Carolina - Butch Davis needs one more year to get the Heels in the national spotlight.

UConn - They surprised a lot of people with their runner-up Big East finish last year, and they hope to be just as solid this year.

Tulsa - Incredible offense. Todd Graham is the next coach to get a big-time job.

Pitt - They look to build on a huge upset win over West Virginia in the final game last year. RB LeSean McCoy is a sleeper for the Heisman.

Purdue - Some are calling the Boilers sleepers in the Big Ten, and coach Joe Tiller's last season in West Lafayette could be full of surprise upsets.
