As a Bulls fan I never used to get all that excited about the NBA draft. I was fortunate to be spoiled by some pretty good teams growing up. Finally, in 1999 the Bulls had the 1st overall pick and I started to think the post-Jordan era wouldn't be so bad and this draft thing was pretty cool.
Yeah, not so much.
After '99, it's been one collective debacle for the Chicago Bulls on draft night. From Chris Mihm, to Marcus Fizer, to trading Elton Brand for Tyson Chandler, to Eddy Cheeseburger with Curry, to failing to select Brandon Roy. That's just some of the mistakes (Excuse me while I dull the pain with a 10 count).
Hopefully tonight brings a breath of fresh air back to the United Center when the 1st overall pick comes up Roses. Of course, there's the mess of mediocre backcourt players remain, but for a night at least, I hope to enjoy what could be a very promising future with a special, one-of-a-kind point guard.
As for the rest of the draft, it should be wildly interesting throughout. Will Pat Riley really pass over Michael Beasley or has that just been his fun with the media? After all, none of the 'character issues' have actually come from his mouth. What will happen at spots 4, 5 and 6? Anybody's guess.
Enjoy and feel free to chat it up here. Look pretty fly, boys.
