The 2009 All Star Home Run Derby is tonight, starting at 8:00 pm EST on ESPN. Unfortunately, Chris "Back-back-back" Berman will be announcing it, along with Joe Morgan and Steve Phillips, so you might be better off watching it on mute.

At any rate, some of the best hitters in the game will be participating, and if you're wondering about the rules of the contest, you can check it out here.

If you're watching, chat it up here all night. Let us know who you want to win, and who you predict to win. Here's the lineups, with their position, team and number of home runs that they have so far this season:

American League
Carlos Pena, 1B, Rays (24)
Nelson Cruz, OF, Rangers (22)
Brandon Inge, 3B, Tigers (21)
Joe Mauer, C, Twins (15)

National League
Albert Pujols, 1B, Cardinals (32)
Adrian Gonzalez, 1B, Padres (24)
Prince Fielder, 1B, Brewers (22)
Ryan Howard, 1B, Phillies (22)

I'm picking Albert Pujols to win it in his home park, but I also think that Ryan Howard will give him a run for his money, as he returns to his old stomping grounds. Chat it up all night, and enjoy the Derby!

I'll go with my homer pick and hope Mauer can surprise a few people with their "he only hits for contact" crap. Might be the only time this season the majority of his homeruns actually go to right, I still hope he hits a few the other way though.

Carlos Pena. Snubbed for the All Star game despite leading AL in HR's. Will make this his personal clinic.

I'll go with the late add Pena to come out and prove he should have been there the entire time.

agreed with pat and 100%, gonna be a long night with him.

it kinda annoys me how every year the listings for this says 8-10pm est, yet the first round is never done before 930, and its never done completely until 11.

anyway, for my pick, i think picking the winner is a crapshoot so im just going with the howard since hes a phillie. but gonzos my sleeper and for some reason i dont think pujols will do that well

I'll go with Pujols.

I'm picking Nelson Cruz and rooting for him and Prince.

Joe Morgan just asked Pujols if he's ever seen Musial hit. Meanwhile, Pujols was born in 1980.

In Joe Morgan's world, anything is possible.

Gotta love ESPN catching Prince take his dip out right at the end there.  I'm sure MLB and Bud Selig loved that.

I think its cool since its represents the city, not a corporate sponsor or anything that MLB wants to push.

I love it. I think every city should do something like that when they have nationally televised games. It's a great touch.

So I know there's still Howard/Mauer/Pujols up...but with the exception of Nelson Cruz and Prince's 497 footer...this kinda sucks so far.

Piss me off.  Prince Fielder is up in the first round and that jerk Berman is talking to Pujols.  ESPN and Chris Berman can take their east coast bias and stick it.  Hey Chris you are back back back back back back back GONE!!!

Go Prince...

Ok...Umm, too many things wrong with this statement.

You do know Milwaukee is further east than St. Louis...right? Maybe he's talking about Albert because it's his host city, and has all of those numbers to be considered the best in baseball.

I do find him annoying as hell, but do know when to pull the "east coast bias" at the right time.

Last time i checked, St. Louis is in the midwest, just like Milwaukee. I wouldn't blame ESPN's east coast bias, just the natural pomp and circumstance at every all-star game event. Don't worry, Fielder will be up again approximately 10:45 EST if Bud Selig doesn't just call the whole thing a tie.

I understand why Pujols thought he needed to participate in this event but I'm glad he isnt advancing any farther.  He put on enough of the show for the fans, time to save some for the game and more important, the Diamondbacks this weekend

In all fairness, Albert did have some nice things to say about Prince's swing and how he's developed since he came into the league.  In fact, that conversation with Albert about hitting was probably the most interesting conversation that Berman, Morgan and Phillips have been involved in along time

You are right but we get snubbed by ESPN all the time.  Pujols is the favorite so ESPN needs get his face on the tube.  Last time Prince was in it (2 yrs ago) they went to commercial.  Lets see how they cover Prince in the second round.

Yes he did but why can't we watch him.

OK, I got a lot of negative responses.  Maybe just my feelings towards Joe, Chris and that monster ESPN.. I apologize.  Lets just watch Prince walk off with this thing..

"We", you mean Milwaukee? The team that's had atleast 7 national games already this year? It's not their fault that every national game they play in, they're absolutely terrible...

I bet he's (fielder) gonna take a fall for a big cash sum from ESPN so Pujols can beat him in batoff round 2.
Pujols is the best player in baseball and is a part of the team/city hosting the event. It makes sense they are interviewing him at the beginning of the derby

I'm digging the Tyson-esque tattoo on Fielder's neck. Is that why Cecil hates him???

Considering Prince swings like he's in the HR derby every time he's at the plate, it probably shouldn't be a surprise that he won this tonight.

I am very happy for Prince, but the dude handing him the trophy should remind him not to try to unwrap it, it's not made of chocolate.  I am sure he will be quite disappointed to hear that...
