2010 Pro Bowl Snubs

Who Were The Biggest Snubs For The 2010 Pro Bowl?

12/30/09 in NFL   |   Pat   |   5232 respect

Every year, there are some Pro Bowl snubs... guys who should have gotten the invite, but didn't, for whatever reason. I actually think that the fans, players and coaches did a pretty good job overall this year, but there are a few that make you shake your head a little bit. Here are a few guys that I think should have gotten a Pro Bowl nod, but didn't.

Randy Moss - I know I'm a little biased, but for me, this list starts and ends with Moss. He's tied for 7th in the conference in receptions, 5th in yards, and most importantly he has a substantial lead over the rest of the AFC in touchdown receptions with 13. Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and Brandon Marshall are all tied for 2nd with 10.

Tony Gonzalez - Vernon Davis is a lock, but I think Tony G. should have gotten the spot over Jason Witten. Witten has 8 more catches and 117 more yards, but Gonzalez leads in the more important categories... like scoring points and moving the chains. He has 6 TD's, to Witten's 1, and he leads Witten in first down receptions, 53-44. Those numbers are far more important, in my mind.

Matt Schaub - Also as a Patriots fan, I just don't feel right about Tom Brady getting the Pro Bowl spot over Schaub. The Texans QB leads the entire NFL in passing yards, and has a higher completion percentage and QB rating than Brady, as well. Most importantly, Brady has failed the "eye test" for me. I know his numbers are good, but he really hasn't been that stellar this year.

London Fletcher - It's hard to argue against Patrick Willis or Jonathon Vilma, but Fletcher seems like a consistent snub. He has been a very good player for years, but has never made a Pro Bowl. I think he could have been a borderline pick over Vilma.

The Cincinnati Bengals - Injuries to Cedric Benson and Antwan Odom definitely played a part. If both had stayed healthy throughout the season, I'm pretty sure they would have gotten a spot. But even still, it's hard to believe the 10-5 Cowboys deserved 6 spots, and the Bengals got zero. Something doesn't add up there.

Those are my biggest snubs... who do you think should be added to the list?

id hate to lose Jammal, but Lance and Devery i guess would be acceptable. Meachem and colston are a potent 1-2 team.

I think, and it pains me to say it, Moore and maybe Henderson - but who knows.

Captain,  you would have went with Meachem over Colston? Colston is another snub IMO. When healthy he's consistently produced 1,000 yard seasons.  But I think it will be difficult for a Saints receiver to make the Pro Bowl with Brees as quarterback, and I say that because he spreads the ball around to everyone. If you're an eligible receiver  on the field for the Saints, you better be ready for the ball because it could come your way.

Its not about actually playing in the pro bowl "game", but rather being selected to play. Player's career stats do not state whether or not a guy suited up and played in the pro bowl, just if he was selected to his conference's team.

Thats why I don't like that the fans get to vote players because most will make it on popularity alone.  The coaches vote as well but I think it should be mostly based on stats.  That's the only fair way to do it because  people are just voting for players cuz that's their favorite...

WHEN WILL LONDON FLETCHER GET HIS NOD? - WHEN HE IS RETIRED. THIS'S  BS.

I know some of my fellow Who Dat Nation members may disagree with me on this one, but I don't see how Jon Stinchcomb ended up in the Pro Bowl.  Without playing opposite All-Pro Jammal Brown at LT, Stinchcomb looked very average at times.  To me, Jermon Bushrod often played better than Stinchcomb. If I were to select two Saints offensive linemen to the Pro Bowl (and I believe two deserve to go), I would have went with Carl Nicks, the guard that plays opposite of Pro Bowler Jahri Evans

Really? I know there are a ton of decent guys on NFL rosters, but how many of them get significant playing time? Barely enough to make up those teams, imo. Meanwhile, you'd have guys like Chris Johnson, who is arguably the best player in the league.

Remember though that had it not been for Moss' 3 TDs on 4 catches last week his numbers don't even come close to Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, or Brandon Marshall.

A bigger snub than Moss was Vincent Jackson.

Gonzales was definately better this year than Witten. 6 TDs over 1 TD trumps a 117 lead in yardage. Just another case of Cowboys players winning spots they don't deserve.

Harvin shoulda got KR over Jackson, but the Vikings had other ProBowlers that they shouldn't have so I don't care.

Jon Beason over Wilma. No way you can deny Patrick Willis' spot as the starter but Wilma is definately not even close to Beason. Wilma (110 tackels, 2 sacks, 3 ints, 0 FFs, 0 fum rec); Beason (134 tackles, 3 sacks, 3 ints, 1 FF, 2 Fum rec) and just for fun cuz he's my favorite player: Willis (147 tackles, 4 sacks, 3 ints, 1 TD, 3 FFs)

Schaub over Brady any day. How can you lead the league in passing yards and not be a ProBowler? Manning and Rivers have to be in there so Brady had to go this year. Schaubb is the biggest snub this year for me.

Randy Moss should be in the Pro Bowl.

12/30/09   |   nyrangers   |   192 respect

I'm sure Moss got overlooked because he was in the shadows of Welker all year. Moss has seemed to be quiet all year, and actually had some bad games, which has never happened with him his previous years with the Pats

I'll give my biased pick for Lousaka Polite for AFC fullback. If you watched the 'Fins play this year, he was one of the main reasons theyre near the top of the league in team rushing despite Ronnie Brown going down for half the year.

Also, I would've taken either Leon Hall or Jonathon Joseph over Champ Bailey.  Bailey has had a good year but he seems like one of those players that gets a bit more recognition because of the name value.  Hall and Joseph are two of the best cornerbacks in the AFC and a reason why teams dont have alot of success throwing the ball against the Bengals

Every word you said about Fletcher, I agree! A consistant snub is exactly correct. Spot on with this, Pat.
