“I just know this, that he’s interested in Kentucky,” Petrino's father said (Petrino Sr.). “He wants to stay in the SEC. That was his life’s goal was to go to the SEC.”
Many have believed that Kentucky would never be on the recently-fired coach's radar — that he'd shoot for bigger programs in search for a national championship opportunity.
But Petrino Sr. shot that annotation down quickly.
“I know he wants a job; he needs a job,” he said. “He told me, ‘I need a job, Dad.' I said, ‘Well, you must still have some money. You made 3 1/2 million dollars.' And he said, ‘Yeah, I do. It's not the money.' He just misses coaching so much.”
Although reports have shown that Kentucky is not interested in hiring the disreputable coach, there's no doubt that he'd carry some hope into a program that hasn't seen a whole lot of winning over the last few years.
Petrino owns an all-time career record of 75-26, which included a four-year stay at Louisville. He won two Big East titles — one in 2004 and the other in 2006.

Whoever decides to hire Petrino -- whether it be Kentucky or another program -- better prepare for a lot of criticism, especially from the media.
