....As if that's any mystery.

Blog Photo - 2012 NFL Draft Open ThreadThere will be a few surprises though, good and bad, for all of us. What does your team need? What do you think they'll go after? Who do you think they'll go after?

I won't bore you with a bunch of paragraphs and long winded assessments and predictions. You probably wouldn't read them anyway, as there's much more important stuff going on right in front of you on the television and you just want to get right to the discussion, right?

So let's get down to business. The 2012 NFL Draft starts at 8:00pm Eastern, airing on NFL Network, and we'll be here watching the drama unfold, discussing the goofs and trying to analyze what our favorite (and least favorite) coaches and GMs are doing.

Watching with us? Q it up here!

My new favorite pick by Seattle: Sweezy. I hope he's awesome. I really really want to hear announcers say his name...all the time.

Ok the Browns had a great first pick with T Rich @ 3 and I can even get past the next 2 since they addressed needs...But JOHN HUGHES?  John F'IN HUGHES?  NO FU*CKIN WAY YOU DRAFT THIS GUY IN THE 3RD RD.  HE's a FA at best.  Heckert has no clue how to draft outside the top 20.  He looks like a mongoloid and acts like one too.  I think when he had heart surgery they also did a frontal lobotomy.

I'm not sure what Josh Leribeus has to offer. Oh wait, he is slow and struggles athletically, just like his new teammates.

Wasn't really wild about this pick.  I think the Rams would've gotten better value by taking LaVonte David or Zach Brown at linebacker.

Yes I know, but, look at the last 10 years, could it be any worse? I dont think so, and I'm hopeful we can still add some good O/D line guys. On the bright side, if Griffin lives up to what I have seen so far, Skins are looking good.

A lineman has to completely screw up to be a bust. The Bills could revive their glory days if this keeps up.

4/27/12   |   Scott   |   53016 respect

Jeff Fisher and company take a bit of risk with one of their 2nd picks.  Janoris Jenkins has all the tools to be a really good cornerback as long as he can keep his head on straight off the field

Well, I'm sure being a Dolphins fan is something akin to having your penis skinned with a very sharp razor blade and then dipped in boiling salt water.  However, as a Cowboys fan I'm pretty F'n stoked!

Seattle reached with Irvin, but I also think San Fran reached with Jenkins from Illinois. They could have traded out of round one and probably still would have gotten him AND additional picks.

You have to understand the mindset of Rams fans when it comes to the draft. We've been burnt in the past by regimes who've "reached" and took guys like Damione Lewis and Jimmy Kennedy in the first round. We've been burnt in the past by past regimes who've taken guys like Joe Klopfenstein and Jacoby Shepherd with high second round picks. When this current regime steps outside the box and takes a project in this draft when they had a chance to make a safe pick, you can see why Rams fans are a little skeptical. That said, you are correct, they do have 3 picks early in the 2nd round and with those picks, they can certainly add 3 quality players if they play their cards right

What's baffling me is the fact that Fischer has done nothing so far to protect Bradford. Was he spoiled by Steve McNair's toughness all these years?

That was a decent pick by Detroit, but I would have picked a DB. That's why I'm on here, I guess, and not in a war room.

Anyway, as usual, Scott, your two cents worth is often worth a nickel. I couldn't agree more with that assessment.

I'm still trying to digest what happened with the Rams.  According to all these experts, there were 6 "can't miss" prospects in this draft and the Rams proceeded to trade down not once but twice to take a guy that most people feel is a project.

Can't wait to see Belichick trade both picks (#31 and #27) and move down to the 2nd round. I heard he's getting jealous of the Rams, who now have like 18 picks in the 2nd round.

Bill loves those 2nd round picks.

I'm not sure Seattle is as anemic at WR as Tarvaris Jackson made it seem. They've had some underachievers and Baldwin might experience that sophomore slump, but Butler should be healthy this year, hopefully we still have Rice, Williams is still there and great when the QB gets the ball to him, we can hope Baldwin won't bow out, Obomanu is solid, and we still have Tate (who knows if he doesn't step it up he'll be out of there). Not to mention a pretty decent TE corps. We really need a great pass rusher to play opposite Clemons, IMO.

I know it was probably better for the team, but I'm ticked they traded the 12th pick! We're famous for our 12th Man! The #12 is prominent all over the new unis! It was fate that we got the #12 pick in the 2012 draft! What the hell, Seattle?! You've GOTTA keep that!

/irrational rant.

Congrats to BC's Luke Kuechly, who got taken with the 9th overall pick by the Carolina Panthers. Some predicted he'd fall all the way out of the 1st round, but the Panthers wisely snatched him up. Sure, I'm a homer, but he's a beast.
