Happy NBA Draft, basketball fans!

Blog Photo - 2013 NBA Draft Live ThreadIn this year's draft, much like the 2013 NFL Draft, although the depth is there for mid-round picks there are no clear front-runners to go #1. Rumor has it that teams like the Cavs are trying to trade their top picks, without much interest from many other teams due to the weak draft this year. However, it appears as if the Thunder may bite in order to snag Maryland's Alex Len. Len, along with Nerlens Noel of Kentucky, are among favorites to go early if teams overlook their injuries and the fact that they have not worked out for anybody.

There are also several other big pre-draft trade rumors floating around involving some big name players such as Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, highlights provided by our own Matthew_Shovlin. We also get some sort of idea on how the draft might play out via a Mock Draft, and Andrew_Ericksen shows us some players to keep an eye on.

One of the best things about pro sports drafts are the prop bets and drinking games. Got any? Share! And stay tuned right here, while we keep you posted with in depth looks at the Round One picks. Let's do this!

Sorry I'm late, I had a hardtime getting on to this site in the past couple of days but the Washington Wizards could make some noise this coming season...  John Wall, Bradley Beal, Otto Porter at the #3 position (Small Forward) Nene, and Okafor...  I wouldn't be surprised if they made the playoffs this coming season....  I just hope Dwight Howard can come to Houston so the Rockets could get some defensive presence as well as some inside scoring from a frontcourt players instead of relying of Jeremy Lin and James Harden to score alot of points...

I'm just a little disappointed the Nerlens Pelicans didn't keep New Orleans Noel

Some really good quality college players that left school early went undrafted.

Call me crazy but I don't believe there is any love loss between Bill Simmons and Doc Rivers.

Also looks like Kevin Garnett has agreed to wave his no-trade clause and the big trade with Boston and the Nets is going to go down.

KG and Paul Pierce to the Nets for Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Reggie Evans, Keith Bogans and 1st round picks in 2014, 2016 and 2018.

The NBA landscape in Boston has certainly changed in the last couple of days

Not a fan of David Stern but it was a neat moment to see Hakeem Olajuwon come out to see him off.

Commissioner Stern really is in prime trolling form tonight and you can tell he's on the way out.  He is acting like it's the last semester of his senior year in school

Nerlens Noel not only lost out on being the top pick in the draft but it looks like his hair just got upstaged by Lucas Nogueira

so Noel had to do the post-selection Kabuki dance in a Pelicans hat
this made me laugh because I read it "pelican" and not the team Pelicans...I'm visualizing dude doing a  Kabuki dance with a pelican hat with its legs flopping around down around his shoulders.

I went to dinner before the 4th pick, and am now utterly confused. Charlotte did what? New Orleans did what? What what?

12th - OKC Thunder pick up Steven Adams, C out of Pittsburgh
13 - Scott's got us covered cheeky

Blah pick for my Mavericks.  Ship Kelly Olynyk to the Celtics for the 16th pick and 2 future second round picks.

6/27/13   |   Jess   |   34394 respect

11th  - Syracusee PG Michael Carter-Williams to Philadelphia

Really like the trade of Trey Burke to Utah.  Jazz get the point guard they need and the Timberwolves get 2 more chances to make dumb picks in this draft

9th - Michigan PG Trey Burke to Timberwolves
10th - Lehigh PG C.J. McCollum to Portland

The one thing the NBA is notorious for.... trading draft picks. You can't do that kind of thing in the NFL

Maryland C Alex Len to Phoenix at #5
Kentucky C Nerlens Noel to New Orleans at #6

Michael Jordan once again proves he has no idea what he is doing as a GM by taking Cody Zeller at #4

Another Indiana player - PF Cody Zeller goes to Charlotte

I dunno about anyone else but to me it feels a little funny saying ... Geaux Pelicans indecision

Georgetown SF Otto Porter to Washington

Not an Indiana Hoosier fan but to me, Oladipo might be the surest bet to be a great player for many years.

I don't know much about the player base or who is supposed to draft who but i am watching and waiting for the Pelicans pick .

6/27/13   |   Jess   |   34394 respect

IND SG Victor Oladipo to the Magic

Why am I not surprised that Cleveland goes with a player that nobody had as the top pick in the draft?

I'll definitely be flipping back and forth on TV and following on Twitter but the excitement for the NBA draft just isn't the same for me like it is for the NFL draft.
