2013 NFL Draft Live Thread

Inside the FanIQ War Room [Live NFL Draft Thread]

4/25/13 in NFL   |   Jess   |   34809 respect

Happy NFL Draft, football fans! It's almost like Christmas morning for those of us who have been waiting months for any kind of NFL activity to resume. Some presents will keep on giving, and some will be all but forgotten until spring cleaning time next year when we pull them out from the bottom of our closets and send them off to their new homes or simply dispose of them. The cool thing about this weekend is, no matter which round we unwrap our shiny new gift, we never know whether he'll be one of the bests, or one of the busts

Blog Photo - 2013 NFL Draft Live ThreadPlenty of "experts" have their ideas of who will go where and when - you may even be one of them. We've got mock drafts all over the place, including NFL Network and ESPN. Share with us in the comments your predictions!

Our own Dan_B kept us informed pre-draft with his Draft Digest, and we'll continue to update this blog as the draft is happening with the latest picks and information on drafted players. You're welcome (encouraged, actually) to join us in the comments with your own contributions!

And what better way to spend your time watching the draft with fellow NFL fans than participating in drinking games? I may be a bit biased but we've got the best "Drink!" list. Do you have anything to add to it? Let's do this!

So yesterday Manti Te'o was selected early in the 2nd round by the Chargers, and he's frustrated by being snubbed in the first round.

As much as I hate to say this, the 49ers have really done a fantastic job in this draft.  In fact, I think the NFC West as a whole has probably had the best collective draft of any 4 teams.

Nothing to worry about with the Cowboys draft, things are going as scheduled. Al Davis Jr is making stupid picks, and taking guys 2 rounds before they are necessary. Also I think we drafted a TE for the 10 time in the last 17 drafts. Even though we still have one of the best TE's in the league.

I was hoping for a kicker, but apparently that isn't going to happen. I am not displeased with the picks, but I could be happier.

Slaughter = even better name.

Caleb Sturgis is a cool name. Too cool for a kicker (and I like kickers)

There are actually bets going around on Honey Badger's time in Arizona, and if he gets suspended or arrested in his first two years. I think the odds are 3:1 or something like that, it's by word of mouth at this point.

So far, so good for the Rams.  It's now or never for Sam Bradford with Fisher and company going out and getting both explosive receivers from West Virginia.  Throw in Jared Cook from the Titans and Bradford will have some weapons this season

So the Cardinals basically gave up Geno Smith or Manti Te'o for a 4th round pick

The 49ers got a 3rd round pick next year and a 7th rounder for the Titans to move up only 7 spots, while the Chargers moved up 9 and only gave Cards a 4th rounder.

4/25/13   |   richard_cranium   |   17677 respect

I find it laughable that the NFL shortend the time on 1st round picks from 15 minutes to 10 because the draft took too long. But it seems like since the 14th pick they have been 2 picks behind in announcing the pick. Because they invite 42 players to sit backstage, so now you have to stop for pictures for all of them. Then they let people make speeches for 10 minutes, do that before or after, not during. Also they don't want anyone revealing picks before they announce them, How about they speed up announcing them then maybe that won't happen. Also it would shorten the draft.

4/25/13   |   Scott   |   53571 respect

Vikings give up a huge haul to get back into the first round and as a result, the Patriots find themselves with 8 picks now, 4 of them tomorrow in the 2nd and 3rd rounds
