The New York Giants had to be feeling pretty good at the start of their Bye week. They had won two straight, and every other team in the NFC East was somewhere between average and awful. Then came November 3, when the Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles all picked up wins.
Sometimes, you just have to laugh.
Where the New York Giants are in Week 10 NFL power rankings: ESPN
The ESPN NFL writers kept the Giants at 29 in their latest power rankings. They did give New York fans one reason for hope: “The Giants host a battered Oakland defense next. That might be the recipe for rejuvenating Eli's downfield passing game.” Hopefully, Eli and company were taking good notes this past Sunday when the Raiders were torched by Nick Foles.

Pete Prisco decided to drop Big Blue down three spots to 26. It's hard to argue against his doing so considering that each of New York's NFC East rivals won on Sunday. Prisco pointed out that the Giants may have to go 6-2 in the second half of the campaign in order to have even a shot at the playoffs. That would only be good enough, however, if the Dallas Cowboys stumble a few times.

Frank Schwab isn't at all sold on the Giants, dropping them down to 29 in this week's list. “I don’t get the Giants resurgence buzz. This is still a very flawed team that has to win for another month straight just to get back to .500,” he wrote. While fans of the team may not like it, the fact of the matter is that Schwab is spot on here.
Where the New York Giants are in Week 10 NFL power rankings: FOX
Former head coach and current FOX NFL analyst Brian Billick went a much different route with his NFL power rankings. He has the Giants all the way up at 20. He expects that New York will be 3-6 after hosting the Raiders on Sunday. Even if that turns out to be the case, I still believe Billick was far too generous to the Giants.

Mike Florio wasn't interested in moving the Giants in his list. He pointed out how bad Sunday went for New York in placing Big Blue at 24: “The Giants thought they’d gain some ground in the bye week — until everyone else in the division won.” Ouch.

Hank Gola needed only two words to perfectly describe New York's off week: “Bad Bye.” He put the Giants at 25.
All due respect to Mr. Billick, who has certainly earned it, but I don't see how any 2-6 side, let alone these Giants, can be ahead of twelve teams in Week 10 power rankings. Yes, things are looking better for New York now than was the case two weeks ago. The Giants still have a ton of work to do before anybody should believe that they've turned a corner.
Putting the G-Men at 24-26, depending on how much faith you have in the team, seems fair. The Giants being at 4-6 two Sunday evenings from now looks very realistic knowing that Aaron Rodgers won't be playing for the Green Bay Packers on November 17. Still, New York has to get there first.
