It appeared as if some players were going through the motions. Head coach Tom Coughlin and safety Antrel Rolle both brought this up after the defeat.

More than a few members of this franchise cannot wait for 2013 to become a thing of the past.

The NFL writers over at ESPN dropped the Giants three spots down to 26 in this week's power rankings. That piece pointed out the awful numbers put up by quarterback Eli Manning in the losing effort against Seattle. Manning has undeniably had a rough season, but neither his offensive line nor his wide receivers did him any favors this past Sunday.

See you whenever we see you after December 29, Hakeem Nicks.

Justin Rogers of MLive also mentioned Manning: “Eli Manning's bad season hit rock bottom with a five-interception performance against Seattle.” Giants fans, not to mention Manning, will be hoping that things cannot possibly get any worse over the next couple of weeks. New York fell five spots to 25 in Rogers' power rankings.

Frank Schwab, who has been very tough on the Giants in his weekly NFL power rankings, also buried Manning: “Remember this season when people mistakenly argue (Manning) should be in the Hall of Fame.” That's a fair point right now.

Manning will be a Hall of Fame QB, however, if he leads his team to one more Super Bowl championship. Bank on it.

Connor Fulton put Big Blue ahead of the 6-8 New York Jets and at 22. That's very generous considering how terrible the Giants have looked in the past two weeks. “How can a guy that throws 25 interceptions in 14 games be regarded as an all-time great, even if he has two Super Bowls?” was his question.

Not many starting QBs earn multiple rings in the modern day NFL.

Mike Florio made a bold prediction in his updated power rankings: “The New York Super Bowl curse? Host the game, get both of the local coaches fired.” I can't speak for the Jets, but Coughlin isn't going anywhere unless he is ready to walk away from the franchise and maybe the sport, in general. Florio placed the Giants at 25.

The Giants experienced a massive drop in the latest power rankings produced by Jordan Raanan. Raanan put New York at 28. He mentioned that the team has lost its past two contests by 23 points. The worst part when it comes to those scorelines is that both of those games could have been bigger blowouts.

After thinking about it while putting together my own Week 16 power rankings, I can't understand how anybody would place the Giants above 25 this time around. Losing is one thing. It happens.

It's this team's lack of effort over the past eight quarters that is most concerning.

A third straight shellacking, this time at the Detroit Lions, would lead to inevitable discussions about whether or not Coughlin has lost his players. New York doesn't even have to win in Week 16 to eliminate such concerns. Make it a game, Giants.

That's all your fans are asking for right now.
