Most Likely 2014 Super Bowl Matchup
The oddsmakers expect Payton Manning and the Denver Broncos to be in the Super Bowl.
Sports fans and bettors are gearing up for the upcoming NFL football season, which is about a month away. I realize it may be a bit early, but the oddsmakers have released the odds for the most likely 2014 Super Bowl matchups. And even though Tebowmania hasn’t even started yet, let’s take a look at the lines and see which teams the oddsmakers believe will be playing in the big game in New York next year.
10 Most Likely Super Bowl Matchups
10) Seahawks vs. Texans: +4000
9) Falcons vs. Broncos: +3500
8) 49ers vs. Texans: +3500
7) Saints vs. Broncos: +3500
6) Packers vs. Patriots: +3500
5) 49ers vs. Patriots: +2500
4) Seahawks vs. Patriots: +2500
3) Packers vs. Broncos: +2000
2) Seahawks vs. Broncos: +1900
1) 49ers vs. Broncos: +1500
The Denver Broncos are in five of the top 10 most likely Super Bowl matchups, while the 49ers and Patriots are only in three matchups each. Yes, the Broncos will probably be a very good team this season, but should they really be that much of a favorite to make the Super Bowl. Doesn’t Peyton Manning lead a top-seeded team into the playoffs every year, only to get eliminated before the Super Bowl far too often? And besides, Manning isn’t getting any younger, and his arm looked like a spaghetti noodle as recently as five games into the season. The oddsmakers have really overvalued Denver here.
The best odds seem to be the 49ers/Patriots at +2500 and the 49ers/Texans at +3500. Actually anything with the Seahawks, 49ers, Texans and Patriots seem to have great value. I might be in the minority, but I do not think anything with the Broncos has much value to begin with.
