250 Pitch Count = Totally Cool. 500 Pitch Count = Probably Not Good.
READ MORE:
Stories like this one I always find hilarious because it shows how on the ball youth sports coaches are. It seems a Japanese high school, Kawamoto Technical High School, pleaded for a game against Shunshukan High School to be called after they surrendered 66 runs in less than two innings.

But here's the best thing, those 66 runs were all given up by one pitcher. That translates to an ERA of 80 trillion. Seriously, I did the math.

In the sub two innings of pitching, the unfortunate Japanese kid threw 250 pitches, allowing 26 runs in the first inning and 40 in the second. By the way, the kid has already been inducted into the "Kerry Wood Hall of Fame" for having been forced to throw more than 200 pitches in a high school game. I'm afraid his pro career - which is surely on the horizon - will be filled with injuries and multiple DL visits and sucking.

Anyway, after the kid threw 250 pitches, and the team was down by 66 runs, the manager finally decided it was time to throw in the towel. Probably a solid call. But then here's what the manager had to say about why he wanted the game stopped:
"At that pace the pitcher would have thrown around 500 pitches in four innings. There was a danger he could get injured."
Could get injured? Come on, the kid's already thrown 250 pitches, might as well see if he can get to 500 even if his arm falls off.

I can only imagine what would have happened if this guy had managed Pedro Martinez. My guess is Martinez would have self-combusted on the mound.
