Tuesday's MLB recap ...Dodgers 6, Cubs 2 When an Orioles fan laughs at you for acquiring one of their pitchers, you have to question the transaction. Steve Trachsel can gobble innings and actually didn't pitch all that poorly last night but the end result was the same as it was in Baltimore. Loss. The Dodgers have won 3 straight and remain in arms reach away from the NL West and Wild Card. As for the Cubs, they now only lead by a 1/2 game.
Oh, and there's Carlos Zambrano's apology written by his agent:
"The first thing I want to do is apologize to the Cubs fans," Zambrano said. "There were some moments [Monday] when I was angry. When human beings are angry, they say a lot of things they shouldn't say, and I am human. I made a mistake, and the thing about me is that when I make a mistake, I know I have to apologize and do the correct thing.
"This comes from my heart. I love these fans. I love the Cubs fans. I think they're the greatest fans in baseball, and you know, they have the right to boo people or to do whatever they have to do because they've been waiting 99 years [for a World Series championship] and sometimes we don't do a good job and they get frustrated too.
Brewers 5, Astros 3 Bullpen held on for a change, and Ryan Braun continues to assault the baseball at a staggering pace. 27 home runs is solid for a full season, let alone a rookie playing half.
Cardinals 6, Pirates 2 So that whole Joel Piniero trade is working out. I know Albert Pujols is the man, but I'd like to see Chris Duncan get a little more credit. He's the team's MVP right now after another big swing of the bat last night.
White Sox 3, Tigers 1 I keep waiting for Jim Leyland to pull another trick out of his bag. Right now, it appears Detroit has no desire to play in October. Maybe they've started smoking what Jon Kitna has and want to watch some Lions football? While the Indians have played steeper competition, the Tigers aren't taking advantage of the Royals and White Sox of the world. If there's any good news, Kenny Rogers returns.
