49ers Tender CB Tramaine Brock, sign WR Joe Hastings
Tramaine Brock will reportedly receive the lowest tender at $1.323 million. Moreover, since Tramaine Brock was initially signed as an undrafted free agentout of Belhaven by the San Francisco 49ers, they will not receive a draft pick if he is signed by another franchise. However, the San Francisco 49ers have the right to match any offer placed on their restricted free agent Tramaine Brock, though such offers are rare.
As an undrafted rookie, Tramaine Brock earned a spot on the opening day roster in 2010. Tramaine Brock played 11 games in 2011, getting two interceptions before he was knocked out of the lineup with a hand injury. The 24-year-old Tramaine Brock played in every game for the San Francisco 49ers during the 2012 season but didn’t play a major role on defense, getting few snaps as the team’s fifth cornerback behind Carlos Rogers, Tarell Brown, Chris Culliver and Perrish Cox. However, Tramaine Brock was a regular on the special teams units and tied with 16 tackles as well as two fumbles last season. Looking back, Tramaine Brock had more time on the defense in the season before that.
Meanwhile, Joe Hastings was also signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2011. Joe Hastings spent most of 2011 season on the practice squad before being promoted to the active roster towards the end of the year. Joe Hastings played his NFL debut against the St. Louis Rams, on New Year’s Eve. However, Joe Hastings suffered a leg injury during training camp last season and was released.
Safety Darcel McBeth is also set to become a restricted free agent, although it’s still not known if the San Francisco 49ers will be tendering him. Darcel McBeth could potentially replace All-Pro starter Dashon Goldson if he leaves for free agency. It will come down to the San Francisco 49ers’ decision whether to tender Darcel McBeth by Tuesday’s deadline.
