Derrick Rose Plays Well in First Preseason Game
After stepping off the court for 525 days, Derrick Rose finally played his first preseason game Saturday evening against the Indiana Pacers. The slightly bulkier Rose scored 13 points going 5-12 which included one of his typical explosive dunks off both feet. He also added 3 assists and 2 steals, despite his 4 turnovers during his 20 minutes of play.
"I've been preparing myself for this moment for a year and a half now," Rose said. "I was able to push the ball the way that I wanted to, put pressure on the defense," Rose said. "It kind of surprised me that I didn't get winded the whole time I was out there. So I guess I'm steadily building it along the way.''
Rose looked good, but didn’t look like he did the last time he stepped foot on the court. Having said that, no one on the court looked like they were in the best shape of their lives. It may take some steps for Rose to shake off his rust, but he looked mentally confident in his knee once again.
