Everything. A Kings win tonight in Los Angeles would mean everything. Typically around this time, the city is painted in purple and gold, but both the Lakers and the budding Clippers were knocked out of the playoffs early on. This made things even better for the Kings though.
Instead of the city's attention being torn between the wildly popular basketball teams and the lesser followed hockey team, everyone has had time to adjust and jump on the Kings bandwagon with both feet.
This is an incredible time in LA sports. The basketball teams, while needing adjustments, are very exciting. The Dodgers have a new owner and sit atop the baseball standings. UCLA football has a new coach coming in and USC is finally able to play for the championship. Also, the plans for an NFL stadium are nearly done.
On top of all this, the Kings, who have never won a Stanley Cup championship in their franchise's history, may sweep the New Jersey Devils... in LA.
Will the Kings win tonight? It's likely, but not a done deal. But if they do, it would truly help ring in a new era of Los Angeles sports which will be filled with excellence.

Even though they didn't sweep, I'm still fairly certain that LA will get it done. When they do, I'll be excited for all of their fans. Their real fans. The bandwagoneers can all go jump in a lake. Silver Lake, maybe.
