NORMAN, Okla. - Bob Stoops wants everyone to know exactly what kind of players he has.
Right after Saturday's game where first-time starter Blake Bell threw for 413 yards and four touchdowns and right before Stoops announced to the world Bell would be the starter when his team plays at Notre Dame on Sept. 28, the OU football coach caught an interesting sight.
So he wanted to share it.

Knight, the freshman, who earned the starting quarterback spot during August practice, was at Bell's locker shortly after the 50-21 win over Tulsa, embracing Bell. Knight didn't play. He was out with a bruised knee and Stoops hasn't said whether Knight will be healthy enough to play at Notre Dame – if necessary.
“There isn’t one trying to undercut the other guy," Stoops said.
Stoops has been quick to say the quarterback competition was close the entire offeseason and into August. Knight was named the starter less than two weeks to go before the season-opener against ULM. He was replaced in the third quarter by Bell in the second game of the season against West Virginia.
It seemed unlikely Bell would be in this spot – as the starter – after what happened. Despite rushing for 24 touchdowns in the previous two seasons, he was surpassed by Knight. And after Knight was pulled against West Virginia, Bell attempted just one pass against West Virginia.
“There’s no question it has” turned out well, for Bell, Stoops said. “It’s a testament to his character. He didn’t get down. He didn’t get negative. He was ready for it. He took advantage of it.”
