Truth be told, I didn't do all that bad this time around. Things started out well thanks to Cleveland, although I did pay the price for believing that the Giants could win a game.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Browns over Bills

You can add Brandon Weeden replacing Brian Hoyer and helping the Browns earn a win over Buffalo to the long list of things I did not see coming. Weeden is going to get at least one more game to prove that he can command a NFL offense. We shall see.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Giants over Eagles

In my defense, New York did look pretty good early on, and the Giants did manage to rally back. Then the fourth quarter came along. Big Blue is a complete train wreck, and the only reason they aren't the worst team in the NFL is because the Jaguars exist.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Saints over Bears

I've been riding the Saints since the start of September, and I didn't stop this past week. Analysts and fans alike have been in love with San Francisco and Seattle since summer. Don't look now, but the Saints are the best team in the NFC.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Patriots over Bengals

Tom Brady has to be sick and tired of playing in monsoon conditions this season. On the opposite end of the field were the Bengals, who lost to the Browns, probably should have lost to the Packers, and yet are 3-0 in Cincinnati in 2013. Their status as contenders changes with every week.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Packers over Lions

This pick came before I learned that Calvin Johnson wouldn't be available for the Lions. That bit of information would have made the choice even easier. I have regularly said that Green Bay is the best team in the NFC North. Sunday didn't change my mind.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Titans over Chiefs

You know how a change at quarterback can sometimes inject life into an offense? That's what I saw in Ryan Fitzpatrick. Whoops. A 57.7 QB rating isn't going to cut it, especially not against the best teams in the league.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Colts over Seahawks

They may not yet be Denver, but the Colts are very, very good. They went to San Fran and beat one of the best teams in the league, and Indy has now notched a victory over Seattle. I believe Indianapolis to be better than both Kansas City and New England, and the Colts are on track to hosting at least one playoff game.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Rams over Jaguars

Odds are that nobody will be picking Jacksonville to win any games anytime soon. I'll admit that I'm surprised that the Jags even had a lead. That they put up a real fight was a positive sign that they could be headed in the right direction. The Giants don't have that going for them.

I went into this game convinced that Miami was a real contender and that Baltimore isn't anything special. That did not go well for me. Ryan Tannehill absolutely cannot take that sack in the final minute of the game. One play alone didn't cost the Dolphins on Sunday, but it did prevent Miami from having a shot at overtime.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Cardinals over Panthers

Carolina isn't playing against the G-Men every weekend, and so what you see from them from here on out is what you get. Arizona bringing Cam Newton down seven times in a single game was a surprise. Most reassuring for the Cards is that Larry Fitzgerald looks to be 100 percent. That should mean good times for the team's offense moving forward.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Broncos over Cowboys

Tony Romo went blow for blow with Peyton Manning. Nobody, and I mean nobody, saw that coming. There isn't a team in the league that's going to win a shootout against the Broncos. Not until somebody finds a way to keep Manning and company from continuing their historic run will Denver be in danger of losing.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: 49ers over Texans

Anybody who has been following my weekly NFL power rankings knows that I haven't been sold on Houston once this season. The Texans are the most overrated 2-3 team in the NFL, and they could easily be winless. Matt Schaub should feel lucky that he is getting another start.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Chargers over Raiders

I have got to stop falling for these Chargers. They are, on the other hand, a roller coaster ride of win and then lose, so Philip Rivers may be able to lead San Diego to a shock win at Indianapolis next Sunday night. Terrelle Pryor is quietly getting better with every start. Oakland will follow in his footsteps as long a Pryor remains healthy.

Reviewing my 2013 Week 5 NFL picks: Falcons over Jets

This is my only pick that is going live before the game kicks off. Gang Green may be better than are the Giants, but the Jets are .500 in record only. The Falcons losing back to back home games in prime time is a rare occurrence. I'd be floored if it happened here.
