It's mandatory that as long as I'm doing this blogging thing, I'll be posting this Randolph Childress crossover from his absurd 1995 run through the ACC Tournament. Since I've been watching hoops, I've never seen a guard have a more dominant stretch of games than him that season. It's also refreshing to know that Mike Patrick still fawned over ACC players back then, and they weren't always Dukies.
I would give the nod to the ACC Tournament as the best conference championship, but I'm afraid this year's will be a let down. Like the Big 12, they ought to just fast forward to the finals. Maybe Clemson will finally figure out how to beat North Carolina, and I wouldn't put it past Maryland realizing games last a full 40 minutes.
What's at stake?
Top overall seed for North Carolina and a chance to play their first four game at home, essentially. There's an outside chance Duke could also grab a 1-seed if they were to beat the Tar Heels on Sunday, but I'd keep them as a solid 2 regardless of what happens.
Clemson and Miami (FL) are the only teams who could lose the opening round game and still get in. Maryland and Virginia Tech need at least one, if not two to go dancing.
