The New England Patriots are 9.5 point favorites heading into the AFC Championship game

The New England Patriots, fresh of their beat down of the Houston Texans, opened as huge favorites in next weekends AFC championship game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Most sportsbooks have the Patriots as anywhere from an 8.5-point to 9.5-point favorite heading into next week’s game. The oddsmakers are also expecting a high-scoring game as they have also set the game’s total at 52 points—which at first glances seems a bit high, until you realize that all four games this past weekend went over 52 points.
It seems like New England’s loss of tight end Rob Gronkowski has very little impact on the odds, as 9.5 points is as big of a line that you can expect to see in the playoffs. The Ravens were 9.5 points underdogs during Saturday’s matchup against the Broncos, and beat the Patriots 31-30 during Week 3 earlier in the season, so there is a chance that the line moves in Baltimore’s favor over the next few days.
